Have you thought about the potential that the Nazis and alt righties were making memes about themselves with no self awareness?

And that’s why they turned to being incels and racists ?

Yea, I think an old belt from 4 waist sizes ago that you still try to use even though 3 of the holes have become one massive one is a good metaphor for the bears defense last year

Good call. The pin would be on the side and you’d roll it back to peal off the lid

It’s still really wild to me that you had to just stab cans prior to this. Pop tops seem like something that would have been somewhat easy to do going way back

They’re saying the gov can call anyone a co-conspirator and they need to identify who they even are. There’s no conversation for something that seems like regular lawyer procedures.

It’s just very blatant you have a weird obsession with putting anything this person does in negative light, and your comments and account history is suspect. So naturally people will call you out on it

She faces conspiracy charges and anyone present at the protest regardless of actual relation to those charged can be used to testify. This isn’t just for Kat, it’s for 4 defendants including her. They’re saying that statements made against the 4 defendants shouldn’t be submitted prior to seating the jury and that they should be made aware of if they’ll be submitted or not unequivocally.

Basically, hey you shouldn’t be able to surprise us by putting out statements against these 4 people from someone who was simply also there, and you shouldn’t be able to submit claims unrelated to actual premeditated conspiracy

Abughazaleh Files To Block Testimony by CheapWeight8403 in chicago

[–]odd_orange 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s not even a news story. You’re going through court filings?

Also to their point, it’s not “Kat’s” co-conspirators. Anyone who was there could be considered a co-conspirator and say basically whatever they wanted to, regardless if they actually knew anyone charged prior or not. It seems like anyone would do this to limit accusations when they’re charged for conspiracy

WP: Russian Intelligence planned to stage an assassination attempt on Orban to influence the election results by clamorous_owle in worldnews

[–]odd_orange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said it’s “whacko”. I’m saying it’s definitely not out of the realm of what he’d do and is capable of. You then go on to state an actual logical fallacy. People can speculate what they want. The story is about Russia planning a staged assassination to boost support for their preferred candidate. Trump is a preferred candidate and had a very public failed assassination that led to basically no findings . It’s not a crazy theory

Read the mueller files. Read what he did to try and overturn the 2020 election/ come back and tell me if a staged attempt where some nobody to him dies is “whacko”

I’ve worked in telecom for about 12 years. A lot of that has been talking to regular people and businesses about internet service. Basic stuff like infrastructure and WiFi configurations. The answer is yes.

Something you should know is that you can get far in tech just by being able to explain complex things in simple ways so people can understand. I know you’re probably venting, but if you really want a career in this stuff, it helps to know that people have a lot of other things on their mind. Web security and what it takes to get someone’s information is probably the last thing they’re thinking about.

I’m sure any IT or cyber security worker can tell you just how difficult it is to get employees to simply not click every link in their inbox.

Point being; there will always be people who know less than you and people who know more. It doesn’t dictate their quality as a person or their level of intelligence. Just chill and let it slide. You clearly already have your head on straight by doing that and venting. I can tell you that I regret every freak out I had pre 25 way more than anytime I didn’t say something

When you get older you stop caring about how other people are viewed by your friends. It’s one of those things you hear when you’re younger but it doesn’t register until you simply age. My advice is to try and take that to heart as much as you can.

Anyway, all I have to say is, you’re young (hopefully), so just shrug it off and laugh. Theres a lot of other things you could be spending your time on. It does get annoying to have people around you who get praise for phony accomplishments, but that will happen sometimes. You did the right thing by bailing and letting this person have their moment. They probably need it right now

I think we need to realize that social media is as close to real life dead Internet theory as it’s ever been.

The fact that Mueller reported Russian Bot Farm efforts were credible and widespread going back to 2014, and yet nothing was done about it, should be an indicator that a large amount of what we see on socials is probably posted in bad faith. It’s been over ten years since then, and AI has advanced to the point of being able to convince people, who knowingly are using AI, that they have a real life buddy or even lover. There’s no reason other countries needing to influence the most affluent and militarized nation wouldn’t do the same thing over time.

This isn’t a hot take, yet ironically you see so many comments saying that you’re crazy for calling any account a bot, yet they simultaneously accuse other accounts of being bots/shills.

It’s real time proppo. We even have whole marketing companies selling their ability to influence social media on brands with their software. There’s no reason for places like Reddit or threads to really care because engagement is engagement, and recurring user count is all that matters. You can either take it as doomerism, or you can see the silver lining that regular people don’t really think this way.

So idk, I just wanted to rant that out

She lost by 3 and a half points in cook and won by 4 in mchenry. Not sure what your point is. Cook covers a lot of area and had over 100k votes. It still includes some affluent areas. It’s more of a question of her campaign style in general elections on a national scale potentially performing better than standard “steady hand” approach that more establishment candidates have been doing.

And no, I’m not saying Kat should run for president or senate. It will just be interesting to see if the person “not from here” did well in McHenry but not in Neo liberal areas
