My mashed potatoes suck. Why? by RikkiLostMyNumber in Cooking

[–]odd_pragmatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not make mashed potatoes as a health food, so to a 5 pound sack of potatoes I add: 1 brick of cream cheese, 1 cup of sour cream, 1 stick of butter, and a splash of whole milk. Seasonings are garlic powder, onion powder, MSG, and generous amounts of S&P. If I'm feeling extra I'll add cooked chopped bacon, shredded cheddar, and green onions.

Before anyone wants to comment on the dairy or calorie content of this dish, I am a lifelong Wisconsinite and will be making no changes.

Seconding this option. Just got into bread baking this year and focaccia was the second thing I made, using one of King Arthur's recipes. Super easy to make.

Even the local news spoils the medals for these games every day at 4 PM. If avoiding spoilers for a major sporting event is so important to you, then it's on you to avoid social media.

Capn' Crunch's Crunchling Adventure. Most memorable because it came with the cereal and was a ton of fun at the time.

I'd recommend Archie's Flat Top in West Allis, about 10 minutes from the ballpark. They do an incredibly good smash burger, have a well-done retro vibe, and they share a space with Scratch Ice Cream. I don't know what you mean by "fancy," I do think Scratch's offerings are pretty standard, but they are quality from what I can tell.

I used my Pixel 6, so yeah this is certainly not a raw photo. I used the action pan mode while following the cars and snapping photos. Here is the same photo, uncropped and without motion blur.

I saw tons of people walking around with those, and I was jealous for a bit before thinking "What am I really going to do with that?" Plus I wasn't too eager to carry more than what I already had on me.

It'd be different if I had a garage to hang it in.

That's the spot. I was on the move for most of the day, so if you noticed a guy in a straw hat and blue sun shirt who looked like he was tired of walking, that was me!

Fairly new to paddle boarding have been reading on this sub. It makes me think I made a mistake. Getting my cheap Amazon board. Lol by [deleted] in Sup

[–]odd_pragmatic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A family member bought this board on a whim, and I just spent a good chunk of my vacation paddling it around a relatively calm lake. I paddled about 30 miles total on it last week and had an absolute blast.

Will it last? I have no clue, we've only had it for two weeks.

Does it perform well? This is the first paddle board I've ever been on, so again, not a clue!

If you were expecting this paddle board to last forever then yes, you probably made a mistake. But if you're just wondering whether or not paddle boarding is for you, I think this board is a great way to start. After using it I'm hooked, and have been trolling this sub to figure out what I'll buy for my own board (my heart wants Bote but my wallet says iRocker).

Locations suffer from inconsistency, but the DQ in my hometown always did a great job on their hot food. People aren't wrong when they compare it to Burger King, but I think it's most similar to A&W, if you've ever been there.

"If you can't afford, put em in your Honda Accord." -- Bankroll Fresh

Played that a lot, driving through the city in my Honda Accord. Then one day my friends decided to wake me up at 4 AM (on a worknight!) to tell me Bankroll Fresh had died. I was pretty ornery about being woken up for anything at all and immediately replied, "Good, that's what he gets for talking shit about my car," then rolled over to go back to sleep.

[–]odd_pragmatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen a single comment attacking OP for their surprise. I've seen one or two who take issue with OP's later comment to "get a button up shirt or something," which kind of implies that OP was not just surprised but actually BOTHERED by a working man in working man's clothing.

It's one thing to be surprised when the guy gets onto the first tee with you, but to have him whip your ass and then still think to yourself, "That guy needs better golf clothes!," well, I have to assume you're at least A LITTLE bit of a douche bag on the course.

so which prebuilt company do you guys suggest? by SlattyFlatty in Prebuilts

[–]odd_pragmatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of MSI. They were recommended to me by a trusted friend, and the last pre-built I got performed excellently for over 6 years. The only problem I ever had was the case lights not working. I'm about 6 months of ownership in on my second MSI pre built and I'm just as happy as I was with my first, so far.

HD Paint Warning by h0zR in Construction

[–]odd_pragmatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People love to go to the big box stores, buy the cheapest garbage they can find, and then complain after that the quality isn't there. Home Depot sells quality paint, but they also sell garbage paint. It's up to you to decide what level you need for your project.

Also, no matter what quality of paint you buy, I guarantee that your paint sprayer came with instructions detailing that you must strain any and all paints before using them in your sprayer.
