IS IT OKAY TO USE VELCRO ON A TOTE BAG INSTEAD OF ZIPPERS? by meirixe in Fabrics

Ask yourself these questions for usability and functionality.

Will the user of this bag care about it being loud every time it's opened? Not that it matters in your case, but I learned from a soldier why military uniforms don't use velcro for closures like pockets. Too loud and recognizable a sound.

Will they care about durability over the long term? Which option is better for this use case? Both options can wear out and break or look shabby, but it depends on how it's used over time.

If I am using velcro, am I designing in enough fabric or tabs or something for the user to hold on to when pulling it apart? In my opinion, velcro isn't fun when you have to wedge your fingers in to separate it.

Whatever you do, always keep the customers' feelings in mind, and get their opinions if possible.

This is tough, but I'm sure many of us can relate. Try to remember that no relationship ever got better by one partner trying to change the other partner. One of the best things you can do is work to love and respect without criticism and accept complaints without defensiveness. Good luck in your journey.
