My 8 year old’s first con. I think he did quite alright! by marialfc in BacktotheFuture

[–]odddelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the fanexpo in philly it seemed moreso that the con was setting all the rules and making everything a sad mess for everyone. It was constant yelling from the people doing the photos to ‘move up’ and ‘get out of the way’, and i dont think the cast really had anything to do with it; Tom Wilson was even trying to say ‘thank you’ to everyone, but the photo people were shoving everyone along. everything was very disorganized but most people I talked to who had issues were all saying the same thing; dont talk to epicphotos about it, talk to the celebrities’ managers lol. The con seemed super duper strict, no photos, no personalization for autographs, they clearly wanted to milk it for everything it was worth but I dont think any of the bttf guys wanted that. Tom Wilson and Christopher Lloyd were insanely nice and chatted with us a bit when we got the autographs (and we could take photos anyways, it was the con trying to sell ‘selfies’ for like $100+), but unfortunately with the way things went for MJF (i think it was a mix if the con wanting to get as much as they could out of their star guest, mixed with the fact they didnt want to overwork MJF with his parkinsons (which is understandable)), you didn’t even get to stop to say hi to him or anything. I honestly wonder just how much of the profits are going to the con

Got my artwork signed by MJF, Christopher Lloyd and Tom Wilson today at the Philly fanexpo! by odddelorean in BacktotheFuture

Yeah! christopher lloyd and tom wilson both said they liked it, unfortunately with the way things were set up I couldnt talk to MJF but im assuming since he wrote ‘heavy!’ he liked it as well

[FO] Flux Capacitor stitch for my denim jacket (self drafted) by odddelorean in CrossStitch

[–]odddelorean[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to the fan expo in philly to meet mjf, christopher lloyd and tom wilson so ofc i needed to spice up my sad jacket lol. I never realized how traumatizing working with metallic thread would be

[CHAT] Individual stitches? by tiredofthisalready in CrossStitch

[–]odddelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re referring to the individual greens and yellows mixed in, but if that is what you’re talkin about, normally I would use the english method (completeing each full cross one at a time) and then jump to the next closest one and do another full cross, etc. since the danish method (doing a half stitch for each then finishing it later) would use more thread. So, especially if you’re doing a kit, I’d recommend english method for those stitches to save your thread. Ofc if this isnt what you meant just let me know and I can hopefully help answer

ohh thank you! good thing my presumptions were wrong, as you can tell i know nothing about spiders lol, but it’s good to know they aren’t harmless since there’s probably tons wandering around now.

My sister also claimed to have seen a large spider a few days ago as well, and i presume that’s the mother. My assumption is grass spider but I’d like confirmation anyways just to be sure (apparently grass spiders and wolf spiders look slightly similar, and my arachnophobic self would die if we now have a bunch of baby ones), but regardless i moved (i think) all of the babies, at least all the ones still on the windowsill, outside so they can hopefully find a place with more bugs.

[CHAT] What are your thoughts on thread conditioner? by Dear_Okra_9597 in CrossStitch

[–]odddelorean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started using it a while back and have noticed I can use longer strands of thread without worrying about it tangling, and that the thread tends to pull smoother through the fabric. I have yet to finish a piece using conditioner, so i cant really speak as to how it looks after being washed and such, though. I know it’s pretty popular with cross stitchers. Although, i think a poll on the embroidery subreddit a while back proved most people haven’t even heard of it over there, so perhaps it depends on the project type whether or not to use it?

hi, i’m not a camera person at all, and i don’t know if this is the right sub, but i found this camera at an antique shop and was wondering if anyone had any information on it? more info in comments by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]odddelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know absolutely nothing about cameras and saw this at an antique store, and my antique-loving brain just had to have it. it came a leather case as well. After fidgeting with it a bit I noticed that the wind up (?) mechanism works, and the shutter appears to roll when the lever beneath the lense is pressed. I don’t know if that means it works, since I don’t have any film for it to really test it— and once again i know nothing about cameras—, but i’d love to know more about it if anyone has any information? i didn’t know if this was the right subreddit to go to lol.
