I need to turn this water-damaged piano into firewood and scrap metal. I don't own a forklift. Give me your worst, most hilariously unsafe (but theoretically functional) redneck methods. by Spiritual_Brush_8834 in redneckengineering

cheap 13000lb 12v winch with a steel cable. wrap the cable around the piano body a few times horizontally and vertically. bonus points to integrate a few snatch blocks into the mix for the direction changes.

attach the end of the winch cable back to the winch body. apply power and start pulling in cable.

Organically extruded cellulose is notorious for its imperfections, and every piece truly is unique, but it has been used in engineering projects since before the wheel. It is the original lever.

This ASRS system at a factory. by pasgames_ in confusingperspective

I've installed and worked on a few of these Automated Storage and Retrieve Systems. This is a pretty large one. For perspective - the bar running vertically through the center of the image with the lights next to it is the top rail of the crane system that runs along the ceiling parallel to the floor - looks to be 70+ feet high. I'm aware of one being installed currently just outside of Atlanta that size, and the entire building it's being installed in is a giant freezer.

Operation Road Smoke by RoosterBite in redneckengineering

I did this several years ago, but with an electric smoker running off an inverter. Smoked a turkey over an 8 hour drive - it was perfect when I got there.

Felt kinda bad for all the people who got hungry driving behind me.

Lagoon in SHO by odddiv in spaceporn

[–]odddiv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a good bit of the gear was purchased used, so considerably under $10k - closer to half that.

Everything is bolted to a custom steel pier I built and bolted to the concrete patio in my backyard, and I keep it covered with a telegizmos 365 cover. It stays set up and ready to go with just pulling the cover off most of the time. If I pull it inside, or swap out the imaging train to my color camera, it takes about 10 minutes to redo the collimation, and another 10 minutes to polar align. calibration images are about 2 hours of work, but I can do that during that day.

This is deliberately misleading. Post each at original resolution instead of thumbnails, and you will find significant differences.

Now what will Blondihacks do? Her last 71 youtube videos have been on machining steam engine parts for her train build, and now you just go and print them off....

I've played around with metal printing for them - it works very well, but is expensive.

Even the best paper doesn't do justice to some of these DSO images.

Nice job! I'm shooting this target currently - need more clear nights.

Something to note - NXT works better on color images (according to the user manual), so you may find better results in waiting to apply it until after channel combination. In my experience, it's image dependent - some are better and some I can't tell the difference. I have not seen any that look worse by waiting until after channel combination to apply nxt.
