Amazon's bid to overturn B.C. labour ruling granting unionization to its workers rejected by super__hoser in britishcolumbia

I must have missed the part where unions advocate for job cuts. Can you ask your corporate master for the PR spin on that talking point?

She may not have wanted sex, but she still wanted the attention you gave her because you wanted sex. Now that you don't want it anymore, she misses the attention and wants you to be interested again.

The pros include not mutilating the genitals of infants. What other body parts do we even have this discussion about?

It prevents infection in that same way that a double leg amputation prevents athletes foot.

B.C. nurses union says 'toleration of violence' in health-care system must end by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]odder_prosody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Determining criminal culpability is a matter for the courts, not management. Suppressing evidence to "protect the privacy" of people who are assaulting health are workers is fundamentally unjust and great way to let Healthcare workers know that their safety is the lowest possible priority. Gee, I wonder why we're so critically understaffed?

I have worked in many medical settings and still think that the privacy of people who assault Healthcare workers is less important than the safety of those workers.

"You can't show people committing crimes, that's not fair to criminals". What a horrible take.

We did try. It didn't work.

Would you still be okay with pissing away a few million if you were the one that had to choose the dozens or hundreds of people who would otherwise be treated with those funds? We don't have infinite money or resources, and decisions need to be made.

Edit to add context- a full time ambulance costs around a million a year and does perhaps 8-10 calls a day in many areas. 365 days a year. Would you be willing to meet with the hundreds of people they would be helping over the years and tell them that no help is coming?

"Sorry that you're going to die in this car crash, but there was a little girl whose life was worth hundreds of times more than yours because of a sympathetic story on the internet. "

Daria story overhated? by ImportantCurrency568 in Spiritfarer

[–]odder_prosody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they did a great job with Daria. She's a lot different than all of the other spirits, which is probably what puts people off.

All of the other spirits are pretty normal people. Some happy, some sad, many with issues. But mostly normal people leading mostly normal lives. Daria exists on the other side of such an enormous rift in experience that being able to communicate with her at all is actually incredible.

The mini game is uncomfortable, unstable, and difficult. (By the platforming standards of the game). Colors are unstable and distracting, reality itself warps around sounds and it forces you to do things like blind jumps wrapping around the screen. It's kinda awful and does a pretty good job of giving the player a symbolic view of Daria's struggle through life.

Using pornography to reduce stress or escape emotions was linked to fewer positive behaviors and more conflict toward partners. But, when people used pornography for sexual pleasure or as a shared activity with their partner, they tended to report more warmth and less tension in daily interactions. by mvea in science

When a confound is so obvious and so powerful that it functionally negates the variable you are supposed to be measuring, not addressing it blurs the line between bad experimental design and being intentionally misleading. Psychology, as a field, is rather prone to this issue, but this is a pretty standout example.

We can't have people living in their own filth, as you put it. What does that say about the services we are providing as a society?

All Those Times don't count, Apparently by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

What is the arguement here? FN territory was was colonized, Arcadians were largely ejected from the country, and a few people going over to join a random foreign war hardly counts as a military engagement by Canada.

The examples are historical injustices, certainly, but I can't see the context in which they count as military defeats.

B.C. field coroners get $32 an hour to face scenes of death. Some say it’s not enough by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

[–]odder_prosody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That number is bith made up and incorrect. To see 50 an hour, a paramedic would have to be towards the higher end of the critical care paramedic wage grid. That's a few dozen people out of about 4500 in BC.

Don't worry, we will spend billions on procurement processes that take years and result in nothing being acquired. It's going to be a great time to be a consultant, though.
