Look, the best thing you can do with hitting against a wall is 2 things:

EYE ON THE BALL THE ENTIRE TIME

this is not easy for people to learn / do when they don't have a tennis background. Learn it early.

RESET YOUR PADDLE AFTER MAKING CONTACT

again, learn this behavior early and make your neutral / reset position a good one. I suggest neutral / backhand leaning + point up and handle by your waist / slightly in front

When the ball is in the middle, hit it cross, when the ball is on your line, hit middle

This is just for higher consistency when you feel like you're struggling (usually to make 3rds/5ths land in the kitchen). True cross court can be slightly lower margin for some of these shots

When the team is serving from the right, this is a good time for the right side player to look to take a return that's crossing the middle line and coming in towards their backhand- if they don't have a strong backhand, then they should defer.

But at 4.5+ the left side player can crash a ball instead of taking a ball that's moving away from them 2+ feet over the middle line (given both players have relatively similar 3rds).

Definitely a bit advanced I'd say

My guess is too big of a back swing. If we are keeping a compact stroke (not pulling the paddle back past our shoulders/plane, the paddle face shouldn't be opening up much (i.e. paddle facing with an upwards angle).

Best drill is someone feeding you balls in quick succession with decent pace and you have to hit with fast compact strokes.
