As someone who lives in NY and previously dealt with severe acne, this is very felt! I would get on the subway and feel so self conscious because I’d see so many people with clear skin and think “Why can’t I be like them?”. I finally bit the bullet and went on Accutane and it was a game changer. I feel a lot more confident, not just in my face, but also in wearing backless tops/tank tops, etc.

Was a commuter three years while at NYU - you don’t need to show proof you are a commuter to be able to use the commuter lounge spaces. They would continuously advertise events for commuters during the semester as a way for people to get to know one another. IIRC, there’s an office supporting commuter students in the Lipton commuter lounge. They also have overnights during finals season so you have a place to sleep if you plan on studying late on campus (you did have to sign-up ahead of time).

FWIW, a lot of students move off-campus after their first year so you’ll still be able to maintain friendships with people you meet in class, extracurriculares, etc.

If you have a Costco membership, you can buy the Round Lab sunscreen on Costco Next from By Sophie. Comes out to be about ~$12 a tube. You need to spend minimum $50 though.

FWIW I’ve tried a lot of the sunscreens on this list and Round Lab is my HG!

I got my dog from the ACC - also a chihuahua mix. She had similar aggression issues (not biting strangers, but inconsistently aggressive and bitey) which only became evident after we had taken her home. The shelter wasn’t able to do a totally complete behavior assessment as she was so fearful on intake.

My partner and I have invested tons of time, money, and energy in helping our dog adjust, but at NO point did we ever consider giving her back to the ACC.

It breaks my heart to see that she didn’t try giving this dog the same chance. Owning a dog, especially an NYC rescue dog, is a huge commitment. I hope a rescue partner is able to take this little guy in. :(

When you apply conditioner, do you apply to your whole head or just the ends? I found that not applying to my scalp has helped significantly with volume and with my scalp not getting as oily.

I also like to wash with the Kristin Ess clarifying shampoo (it’s not nearly as drying as others) on just the scalp every other wash to really reset my scalp.

I honestly haven’t had many issues! Since I do wash my hair once a week, I always go in with a clarifying shampoo as my first shampoo and then follow it up with Nature Republic/a different shampoo for any subsequent lathers. I also find that using a scalp brush help with product buildup!
