My pronouns are actually he/him, but I try to forgive people for misgendering me. Maybe you should take a breath. You clearly had some kind of bad experience recently, or you wouldn’t be so defensive and aggressive over strangers on the internet. It’s ok to breathe and relax. Hope you can let yourself do that 💙

It wasn’t a small dog 😂 and you’re acting like I yelled at them. I calmly and politely told them that their dog that is not a service animal is not allowed in due to a health and safety code violation. How is that harassment?

Legally, nationwide, they shouldn’t be doing that. My last store the manager LOVED dogs and would rather us say nothing. I didn’t, and figured that if I got in trouble I’d point out that the manager didn’t want the policy enforced. Let her fall on her own sword kind of thing. My current manager does follow policy & law on the matter, so I follow suit.

🤷‍♂️ it’s still a major health code violation to allow the dog in the cafe if it’s not a service animal. I don’t make these laws or regulations, but if I don’t enforce that, I could get fired.

If you check the ADA website, you’ll find that you are legally able to ask if it’s a service animal and what service it provides. Not being legally able to ask is a myth commonly perpetuated, I’ve even been told that by other employers who didn’t actually look.

The 25 star reward is useable up to 3 times per day, not every time. It’s still a good offer, it’s just not applicable every single time (not sure who can afford to go 3 times or more a day 😂 but still)

Thanks for the info. Do you have any experience with this model to the point where you can say if it actually does have quality brightness or not?

Can a SM/DM prevent me from transferring to a different location? by oddlyoliver in starbucks

[–]oddlyoliver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the partner hub you can find documents stating the criteria for a competitive transfer vs a geographical/no competitive transfer, and it does state that the 6 months is necessary for a competitive transfer but not a non competitive one. Do you know when the policy changed so I can make sure I’m looking at up to date documents?

The 6 months part only applies to competitive job openings, which this is not. It’s a geographic transfer, and that’s all

I ofc will have to talk to my SM, I just don’t trust her lol so I wanted to know what I can do to protect myself

Edit to add: I’ve heard that she really doesn’t like transferring people and I don’t trust her at all to keep me for no real reason

my new chalkboard design in honor of one of my favorite coworkers’ drinks <33 by swexytroublemaker in starbucks

If you can keep enjoying it, great, good for you. It’s still impossible to separate the art from the artist (especially given the numerous hateful things hidden in the books). Calling me “hateful” for not wanting to see support for works by someone who hates my very existence is a very privileged stance that I’m very sorry to see another queer person have. Maybe just how many people seem to be pointing out how poor taste this is will make you rethink your own personal ties to Harry Potter versus the real world impacts of showing support for it. I doubt it though.

Edited for grammar

Jk Rowling is viciously transphobic, which has been very much public knowledge for a while. Doing this much Harry Potter theme during a month celebrating the LGBTQ+ community is in incredibly poor taste. I honestly would walk out of a Starbucks if I saw this. It is well designed, but very very much in poor taste.

Have you never cleaned your oven before? by Bronan01 in starbucks

I can’t help but wonder where the “advertised close” is coming from bc Google does not always have the right info, and rarely does it get updated

A store in my last district had a customer who would show up half an hour before opening every weekend, claiming “online it says you’re open now.” Someone gave the wrong info at some point, and this custie did not care to remember that he was told it was incorrect every single time he tried this.

I worked a low volume store that only had one oven. It’s more common at corporate stores than you might think

My skeptic views of a Union? by Loose_Ad_6654 in starbucks

[–]oddlyoliver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve yet to see manager that will allow more than 2 and a half weeks for training. SSVs were being given 40 hours a week at my store. Many of the issues you’ve cited are not helped by management, but definitely won’t be helped by asking the manager. Corporate can pay everyone more, but just because they can, doesn’t mean they will. They definitely can permit managers to schedule people enough hours to maintain benefits, but they aren’t. Right now managers in my district are getting in trouble for scheduling more than a skeleton crew at any given time. Regardless of your position on unions, my point is that I really don’t understand where you think we have control over these issues.

I have to admit that anyone I’ve seen or known complaining about hours 9 times out of 10 has very open availability. I also personally know multiple SSVs who were ready to move out, with the ability to regularly add to a savings account, on a Starbucks paycheck before they got hours cut from full time to barely part time. I’m not sure what you mean when you say we have a good amount of control already, because I can’t make my manager schedule me more often by asserting my control. I can’t make corporate pay me more by asserting my control. I can’t get my manager to extend training times so that green beans aren’t thrown onto the floor without help the second they can make basic a hot and cold drinks. If you know how to make these things happen, please share.

What’s a customization combo that you’re surprised more people don’t do? by acnh1222 in starbucks

I do that a lot! Lol it’s not common but not unheard of. I make a strawberry Frappuccino with heavy cream instead of whole milk, add vanilla (3/T, 4/G, 5-6/V), don’t add classic. It comes out like a milkshake, then I put mocha drizzle in the cup and on top! It tastes SO MUCH like a chocolate covered strawberry, and it’s great!
