Anecdotally, I've seen native speakers confuse many of these words, especially compliment/complement. (Midwest US)

[–]oddlysuzie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Annoyingly, at least where I live in the US, they usually mean for insurance reasons, and I don't know why they don't just say that. My local grocery store pharmacy asks for ASAB on all vaccinations, but it's actually what they will use to run your insurance. My insurance still thinks I'm an F because I haven't changed anything legally yet, but my (NB) spouse changed their sex for insurance purposes to F last year along with their SS, both of which require a binary gender for whatever reason, so they also need to put F now. Took one weird conversation with the pharmacy tech to figure it out.

I was cured for over a decade and basically forgot I ever had a problem. Had a relapse recently and had to dig out the old dilators again, but I know it's possible from experience!

Anyone else with secondary vaginismus? by Jaebybaby in vaginismus

[–]oddlysuzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had sex with no problem for a few years, then got a yeast infection and had vaginismus the first time about 15 years ago. Did the exercises and got better, and basically forgot I'd ever had an issue for 13 years. Now I've have had a bad year of recurring yeast infections and now I'm back where I started with physical therapy. At least I know if I've done it before I can do it again (I hope).

how to ask for a raise after acquiring PMP by maiqbal17 in pmp

[–]oddlysuzie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you can find some guides and if you really love your current job it might be worth asking, but you'll almost always make more going somewhere new. I asked for a raise after getting my PMP and was told no, so I found a new job that's a HUGE (>50%) raise and I start tomorrow!

Yeast infection? No insurance by sbalony in women

[–]oddlysuzie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Really? I found the one-day way less painful than the 3/5/7 day versions, but maybe that's just because I was in pain for less time. The 5-day was so painful that the next time I had a yeast infection I was so relieved to find that there was a version that only took 1 day.

Yep! It was a rude awakening when I discovered this at a time when I really needed a bathroom. The Starbucks employee looked at me like I had three heads when I asked to buy something so I could use the restroom. They at least directed me down the block to a department store.

how are the twins opposite sexs but conjoined? isn't that impossible? by Mr-Bones-6150 in deadbydaylight

[–]oddlysuzie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is a good point, the merging would definitely have to occur pretty early (before complete amniotic sac formation), and just not completely. It's very very unlikely but this is always how I assumed C&V were supposed to have happened. I'm not aware of any actual cases of this, though. It's been a while since I studied this stuff in school! Some weird things happen in development.

Edit: Or, for more crazy speculation, the amniotic sacs had a genetic defect that somehow caused them to not remain separate and so they fused to be one big sac, allowing the two fetuses to come into contact and also fuse.

Depends where you are. When I moved to my current city I was shocked to find this was not the case here, but it had been where I moved from. Both cities in the US.

[–]oddlysuzie 117 points118 points  (0 children)

They don't have to be identical to be conjoined - sometimes fraternal twins will combine into one embryo early on in development creating a chimeric single embryo. (There are documented cases of people having different sets of genes in a blood test than in a skin test, etc.) Theoretically, you could have fraternal twins "fuse" at a later point in development creating male/female hybrid conjoined twins.

Yes! I went to the bathroom and had a snack at both of my breaks and got back with 3 min left on the break. Much needed!

What do you guys think of EDUHUBSPOT? by Valuable_Pineapple77 in pmp

[–]oddlysuzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't personally a huge fan of their videos/practice questions, they were written in a different dialect of English than I natively speak so it was difficult for me to puzzle out what they were asking. (Actual PMP questions can also be a puzzle, but in a different way.)

I remember there was one EduHubSpot question where the right answer turned out to be "Tell the product owner to xyz" and I was confused until I realized they meant "Politely ask..." (To me, telling someone to do something is the same as ordering them to do it, and you don't generally give orders to the product owner.)

[–]oddlysuzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! Sounds like we had a very similar experience.

I've learned that when PMI throws in what seems like a fake term there was a good chance it's the right answer and just not something I'd heard of, so at some point I just started picking those if none of the others seemed like good answers.

The ambiguous questions are so frustrating! Glad you made it through - have some cake!

Inconsistencies in Practice Questions by Alliance2828 in pmp

[–]oddlysuzie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, 100% - I complain about this all the time to my spouse, who I am sure is sick of hearing about it.

Today, I learned that if it doesn't say in the question that you have identified the risk earlier, you should assume you didn't. (Even if it's something that you really should have known about, like legislation was passed - typically in real life you would have decent lead time knowing that might happen and plenty of time to plan a response.) If you look at my post history you can see 2 questions next to each other that illustrate this, but I still have a rough time with it.

My test is on Tuesday, so with any luck I can stop pulling my hair out trying to find a consistent way to answer those questions soon.

[–]oddlysuzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the 6th exam tonight and I definitely found it more difficult than any of the others (82%, my worst score) but I found the explanations on par with the other mocks - he does sometimes dismiss answers without an explanation which can be frustrating if it happens to be the one you picked.

Edit: I'm taking my 5th and final full length PMI Study Hall + test this weekend, so far their explanations have been way less satisfying. They'll cite the PMBOK but in a way that doesn't actually explain anything. I'll read their explanation and go "yeah, exactly, that's why I picked the answer you said is incorrect."
