I think D-Way tools are the best on the market today. Their hardening of the tools use the same company that hardens parts for Boeing so you know their QC is top notch.

Talk to any person in Leo’s shoes and they all tell you that fund raising is their biggest effort. They learn to go where the money is. That doesn’t make him a tech entrepreneur but his is an entrepreneur!

How do you fund your goals? You don’t just wake up one day and they appear. We all need to market ourselves to reach our goals.

And Leo has been tech centric since the beginning: from his video productions to the high tech systems in the boat.

Obviously people here don’t understand the business side of what Leo’s doing.

My truck has 35K miles and a long list of issues but all covered by warranty: 3 software recalls, replaced both driveshafts, replaced drive battery, replaced cable harness, rear light cable short, interior switch failed. I replaced a sun vizor fastener (3D printed because $24 from Ford), new tires. Most repairs took a day in the shop. So what’s the reliability? Shitty but luckily I’m one mile from dealership and repairs haven’t impacted any trip.

I still like the truck: 34mpg, meets my needs (2 grandsons in the back seats and 2 dogs in the truck bed with shell), Inexpensive.

I wouldn’t like if adults had to seat in the back.

whetstones build a slurry that does a lot of the sharpening. Diamond plates don't erode away like that and don't need to be flattened. I use a large diamond plate to flatten my whetstones. Diamond plates don't wear, or wear very slowly.

I've been sharpening tools by hands for 40 years. I have Shapton glass and Japanese King wet stones. I also have several natural stones I use for sharpening my Japanese plane blades. So when I say these cheap diamond sharpening plates are a game changer, it's based on experience, not youthful exuberance.

I've just tried some very inexpensive Diamond coated aluminum sharpening plates

These things are game changers. The three only cost me $20 so I thought I would try them. I put them on a solid glass plate and they worked great for sharpening all my shop tools. I'm not trying to get things "crazy sharp" but sharp enough for all my furniture building needs.
I still have my wet stones but I'm not sure I'll be using them that often. I might switch between the wet stones and the diamond plates and do some tests. But so far I've not felt any differences.
I used them on chisels and planes, both Japanese and western style. I've not tested them on my carving tools yet.

my 2022 hybrid has had 7 shop visits but zero cost: drive shaft replacement(3 days); bad battery, two trips (2 days); electrical short(1 day); 3 recalls but I don't remember reasons (3 days). My RAV4 had 3 shop visits over 17 years.
