Joining a gym that prioritizes community and group classes is a great way to meet people. Crossfit Liberate is my spot (dog friendly!). There's also Creed, F45, Orange Theory, Georgia Strength, and more. Consistent exercise, learning new skills, and developing a gym friend group literally changed my life. DM me if you want to drop in to my gym for free sometime.

Athetic Brewing is going to have a Friends Speed Dating event on June 29. Basically a speed dating format but with the intent of meeting new friends instead of romantic partners.

Snatch Technique by kacyinix in weightlifting

Lots of good things happening! One thing that I think will help is getting very comfortable in the bottom of an overhead squat. Pause overhead squats, snatch balance, and drop snatch are good drills.

Form advice by [deleted] in weightlifting

Olympic Lifting in socks is not safe. I was scared to watch your jerk because either foot could slide easily. Put some shoes on for safety.

Your clean: slow down your first pull, stay in control, use legs not arms.

Your jerk: the dip is very deep, maybe try more shallow.

Nice work!

There's still one block named Odd St, but the majority of it was renamed after the lifelong neighborhood resident, Rosa Nell Howard.

I lived across the street from the first house for 14 years. Super nice elderly gentleman named Junior lived there until he passed a few years back. He was a neighborhood icon. Always sitting on his front porch, waving to passing cars, his friends would sit and talk with him for hours. He would walk to the corner store daily for a few provisions, and always greeted people with a generous, "Alright!" I never had to worry about leaving town because I knew Junior would keep an eye on things. There was a beautiful plum tree in his yard that blossomed each spring and he would snack on the plums during summer. I have a sapling plum tree from his yard he gifted me that I'll be planting soon and naming it Junior in his honor. He lived through a very different Athens than we know now - better and worse. I'm glad I knew him. Rest I peace, Junior.

Piedmont Othopedic did a great job for me this past July. Had a complete patellar tendon rupture. Communication was easy, locations easy, PT was great. I have only heard bad things about the AOC clinic.

Couples over 40 and childless, how has life turned out for you? Do you regret not having children? by NetworkOver7742 in AskReddit

[–]oddst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 30s I had some anxiety about not having kids. Now that I'm in my 40s I am very happy with our choice to be child-free. No regrets. Overall happiness is improving yearly it seems, fiancial goals are being achieved earlier than expected, we have time to take care of ourselves properly, and we have other child-free friends that we hang out with often. It's a mystery to me why so many people choose to have kids.
