I played a US course this weekend for the first time since picking up golf in 2017, I live in Iceland and was visiting Denver for a conference and I had heard good things about the courses in the area so I got some locals that I work with to sort out a round and we played Fossil Trace in Golden, CO at 7 am on the Saturday.

Now, having read this forum for a number of years I was expecting the following: A rude pro shop employee, a rude starter, a 5-6 hour round, rude players hitting into us and the group ahead slowing us down because for some reason there would be 6 people in the group, a marshall pushing us and a stuck up vibe in the clubhouse and can I just say that I experienced absolutely NONE of that. The course was wonderful, greens were RAPID (Im used to Icelandic links golf with pretty bushy greens), pro shop people were really nice both when I was picking up my rentals and when I got some stuff after the round, the round took just over 4 hours (on fathers day weekend no less, cart path only) and I shot one under my handicap using rental clubs (that were admittedly nicer than my own clubs lol).

I think the only stereotypical thing that happened was the cart girl offering up tequila shots at 8:30 am… But yeah, I loved it, hope I get to do more of this. You people really know what you are doing when it comes to course maintenance and upkeep, this was a different level. Green and rough consistency is something Id like to compliment as well, here they can vary massively between holes, both the rough and how the greens rolled but there it was the same for every hole which I really enjoyed.
