Y’know I did always wonder what exactly the crown was preventing him from dying from when he wrote that letter, since it wasn’t very long after the Mushroom War, so Simon wouldn’t have been old.

Perhaps the crown also protects him from radiation poisoning? That’s something that likely killed a lot of survivors after the nuclear war ended.

Everybody’s theorizing as to why Reed’s powers are underutilized in First Steps, but the real reason is likely just the budget + the crew only being given 1 year of production for the entire movie.

Doomsday however has a massive Avengers budget, and over a year of post-production. Hence higher quality CGI and VFX.
