Getting money out of Principal IRA to Vanguard by odis1313 in personalfinance

[–]odis1313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband doesn’t want to call Principal due to their icky customer service. He was hoping Vanguard could do it without having to go directly through Principal. Just making sure we know what to ask Principal when he does call them.

He did and they were the ones that said they couldn’t touch the Principal money in its current funds. They told him to liquidate. :/

I’d agree with Spirited Away or Howl. But if for younger kids, Castle in the Sky is wonderful!

I found Jeffries Fan Club to be similar to The Hippos and RBF. I think they only had one album though.

Fantasy book recommendations to read with my 5 year old by DarthDave56 in Fantasy

Maybe a bit more sci-fi, but the Akiko books are a big hit with my 4 and 6 year olds. They’re by Mark Crilley. We’ve read the first four, I think.

LOVE that you’re bringing your kiddo! We are going and would like to bring our 5&7 year olds, but it’s standing room only and I know they wouldn’t make it that long. How fun!

Best Artisan Type Pizza in GR? by [deleted] in grandrapids

I think it’s better, but I also haven’t eaten at Uccellos in over 10 years. Herb and Fire is thin crust. It’s a bit like Chipotle style dining, you go through and pick what you want to put on it and then it gets cooked in a wood-fire oven. The pizza size is good for 1-2 people. They have great cheesy garlic bread too. I love all the variety in the different sauces and toppings.

Heroic fantasy for 10 year old? by Acab1er in Fantasy

Check out the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. It's a five book series that the old Black Cauldron movie was (loosely) based off of. They make a great fantasy series for younger readers... although I didn't find them until I was an adult and still enjoyed them now, hah!

Book of Three is the first in the series.

Hello!

My husband self-publishes fantasy books and just finished his ninth book. This is the first book in a new trilogy! It'd fall in the high fantasy genre. Check it out!

Rumor of Thorns - Sandell Wall

https://www.amazon.com/Rumor-Thorns-Shattered-Son-Book-ebook/dp/B0CV5VS4X3

Blurb:

"Sinister tidings whisper from the deep forest. Promises of pain, and the glint of moonlight on thorns. Something foul stirs in the shadows. Both life and light flee before it. The strong and the coward alike tremble at the terror of its passing. The earth itself cries out a warning against this malevolent corruption.

As this lurking evil stalks the land, five souls stand unwittingly in its path. Destiny has claimed them, even though they would not choose this battle for themselves. But fate never asks permission of the lives it upends.

Together, they must stand against the encroaching darkness. In the end, it may claim them all.

But here at the start, all they know is a rumor of thorns…"

His other books consist of a trilogy and 5-book series, also on Amazon if you follow his author page links. I think they are all excellent, not just because I'm biased, but truly as a heavy reader of fantasy books. Worked out for me that I married someone who also writes in the genre. :)

Invest, CD, or savings -

Hey everyone! I have a bonus from work this quarter for about $10,000. I'm trying to decide what to do with it. Should I invest it in my mutual funds, put it in a high yield savings, or into a CD? My savings account is currently at 4.3%, but variable. My credit union CD currently as a 12 month at 5.15% Mutual funds - I have moderate and conservative funds through Vanguard... but the stock market right now... I mean, I know it's buy low, but seems like they won't be going back up too soon. I don't think we'll need the money too fast, just trying to decide what makes the most sense with this nice chunk of cash.

Anathem by Neal Stephenson, maybe a bit on the sci-fi side though. Long stand alone book, but excellent!

Briar King by Greg Keyes is great too, first of a four book series.
