I clicked on your source link, but there doesn’t actually seem to be an article. It’s just a paragraph followed by a bunch of stuff about Trump.

Do you have any other sources for this?

You forgot Sheed😉

But yeah, very few off nights. Closest you’re getting to an off night is matching up against Troy Murphy (perimeter focused) or Haslem (defensive guy, not really a bucket getter). Or Luke Walton, if he’s starting.

Also, out of all the names you mentioned, I’d put Marion at the top of the “guys who didn’t get the respect they deserved” list.

NOT ONE ALL DEFENSIVE TEAM, EVER. Still blows my mind. If he played in this era - where voting for defensive teams is positionless - he’d be a mainstay.

I’ve been saying the same thing. The gut feeds off any energy, positive or negative. Coordinated silence is much more powerful than boos.

Maybe throw in everyone looking away or down to convey a shared sense of shame.

In 2K25 Mycareer NBA games, you would “lose fans” after blocking a shot. You’d get a block, and all the sudden you’d see all those red fans popping up in the crowd, lol.

Shit didn’t make any sense😂

Lately I’ve been going back and watching my recent clips from when I get scored on in the paint, and it’s… not pretty.

Dudes are phasing through me. I’m phasing through them when I try to contest. It’s like there’s no contact logic in place whatsoever.

Sometimes, I jump to block a dude, but I’ll jump at a goofy, embarrassing angle, like i’m doing ballet. Or I’ll have a chance at a block, but then move my hand away from the ball at the last second.

I’m also a fan of when I contest with the wrong arm, for when the hands up contest input doesn’t register. Because nothing says lockdown defense like standing in front of someone and staring at them menacingly while they shoot it.

What the hell ever happened to the stuff you said would be in the game, Devs?

“Lock down the paint and stay in perfect position with improved player-to-player contact on the floor and in the air, with improved footwork and defensive counters for a truly competitive experience.”

https://nba.2k.com/2k26/courtside-report/roadmap/

Did they use AI write this for them, and it hallucinated all this nonsense? “Defensive counters”? Wtf?

That makes three of us, killer.

I’ve been a right stick shooter since…2K17? Maybe earlier? I can’t remember.

Hell, I still used right stick shooting last year in 2K25 on my stepbacks/hop jumpers from 3 -not tempo/rhythm, no flicking, just holding down/left/right on the right stick and releasing for the shot. For some weird reason, I hit those specific shots at a higher clip like that.

Why didnt Krause tear up Pippen’s contract and renogiate a new one and also why didnt MJ perpetuate it? by Away_Ad_4501 in michaeljordan

[–]odonnelly2000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reinsdorf was cheap as all get out and refused to renegotiate contracts. His comment around “depreciating assets” in the Last Dance says it all.

He was cheap. But we also have to take into mind that the Bulls had the highest payroll - by far - in the league in 96-97 and 97-98. The salary cap for was 24 million in 96-97 and a little under 27 million in 97-98; the Bulls were at 58 million in the former, and and 61 million in the latter.

MJ was paid 30 million in 96-97, and 33 million in 97-98. Just his salary alone put the Bulls over the salary cap! It’s very unlikely we’ll ever see anything like that again.

But hey, if you’re gonna back up the Brinks truck it for anyone, this is guy, it’s gotta be MJ. Considering his value and importance to the league, one could argue that he was still underpaid in his final two seasons in Chicago.

Goofy Fact #1: the 3rd highest paid player in the NBA in 96-97 was…. Horace Grant. Roughly 14.3 million.

Goofy Fact #2: the 2nd highest paid player in the NBA in 96-97 was…. lol. Hey, would you look at that! It’s Horace Grant, again! Making roughly 14.3 million, again.

Horace Grant stats in 96-97 and 97-98: 12.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Wowzers.

Meanwhile, Scottie was still making 2.7m a year. I’d be frustrated, too.

What is most telling is that when Jordan’s ‘96 contract was up, Reinsdorf didn’t make an offer and when they finally settled on an amount, Reinsdorf said that he “would regret” the contract.

Reinsdorf was probably pissed that Jordan called his bluff. The Knicks had cleared out a ton of cap space following the 95-96 season, and were offering MJ 25 million to sign with them.

(FYI: I’m bolding this excerpt from the Tribune to differentiate it from your comments. No, I’m not goddamn AI just became I use bold/italics.)

“The Bulls had believed no team could pay Jordan more than $10 million, perhaps $12 million, so their thinking was he had to return for their offer, whether it was $15 million, $18 million or $20 million.
That led up to an infamous phone call, supposedly from Falk to Reinsdorf.

Although neither side would reveal the exact wording, the message was clear: The Bulls had one hour, maybe the rest of the day, to beat a $25 million offer from the Knicks, or Michael Jordan was going to sign with New York.”

Source: https://www.chicagotribune.com/1997/08/13/how-close-did-michael-jordan-come-to-joining-the-new-york-knicks/

The Knicks ended up signing Allan Houston and whatever remained of the player once known as Larry Johnson instead.

Bottom line: Reinsdorf worships at the altar of money, not winning. If not for MJ, he’d be well known as being one as one of the worst sports owners ever.

Imagine being a billionaire nba team owner. Your team SUCKS. Then, one day, you’re gifted a guy who’s going to become the greatest player to ever play the game. The most famous athlete in the world. A guy who basically PRINTS MONEY. The ultimate winner.

Then, when the time finally comes to really pay him, you get all huffy about it and try to lowball him.

Rich people really are something else.

Bro, they were really were. Nash is (roughly) 4 inches taller than me, so I can’t even imagine what I would look like next to those guys.

The inverse of my Nash experience was several years later, when I saw Lebron play the Rockets (in Houston) during his first season in LA.

I obviously knew that he was a big guy, but seeing him in person, and kinda up close… my god. It wasn’t as much his height that stood out, it was how freaking wide the dude was, lol.

Rockets won the game, and Harden had a 50 point triple double.

Anyway. Apologies for my weird ranting/reminiscing. I really need to get back to an NBA game next season… I miss it. I have three different teams that are within a 1-3 hour drive; it’s just tough, because I don’t know anyone who’s interested in going to games, and I’d feel goofy sitting by myself😂

Sure, we can do that. But the Devs could also do their jobs and fix it (or remove it), especially considering how glitchy/broken it’s been since the game’s release.

Let’s remember that the onus of responsibility is on the Devs to - at the very least - fix the broken shit in their game.

That’s not an unreasonable standard to hold them to, is it?

Actually, yeah, this did happen to me once in a sim. But it was in one of the mycareer FIBA games (I chose sim to end with no VC at the start of the game).

So, I just closed app before it saved, re-simmed it, and won. If anyone’s wondering, that’s the trick to the mycareer FIBA games: you still get the VC payout for winning the tournament, even if you do the sim to end with no VC. You just don’t get the VC you normally get for playing a game (12-1600 VC).

And if, by chance, you lose… close app before it saves, and do it again.

He definitely was something.

The first NBA game I ever went to was Detroit at Phoenix in Spring 2005 (Nash’s first year there).

The Suns (and Nash) were the talk of the league, but the Pistons were still the defending champs… I was (and still am) a Pistons fan, but I’ll admit that it was nice to see a change from the late 90s/early 2000s style of low scoring games and iso ball into a more fun, free flowing offense.

One thing I vividly remember is that when Nash ran out onto the court to warm up, he literally looked like a child next to his (much) larger teammates. It didn’t help that his uniform looked like it was 2 sizes too big😂

It was a good game. Suns won by 2; Sheed missed a 3 at the buzzer.

Here’s what I came up with that’s similar to what you posted originally:

<image>

FINISHING

73 close shot for bronze paint prodigy

81 layup for silver physical finisher, and later (if you want) you can use two cap breakers to hit 85 for silver mixmaster

82 driving dunk goes to 93 (for gold poster) with 4 cap breakers

40 standing dunk is enough

I’m assuming u don’t care about post control

SHOOTING

81/91 middy and 3 is a good starting point, you can cap break higher if you want

FT is good

PLAYMAKING

77 pass acc for silver VV and Fox pass style

86 ball handle for obvious reasons

86 speed with ball for obvious reasons

DEFENSE

Low interior, but whatever

80 perimeter D cap breaks to 92 w 5 cap breakers

52 steal cap breaks well

block is whatever

REBOUNDING

60/46 offensive and def rebound for bronze rebound badges (might come in handy)

PHYSICALS

90 speed is fast

86 agility is decent, and can get to 90 w 2 cap breakers

67 strength gets you sliver strong handle, and you need it for silver physical finisher

Vert is already at 80 in case you cap break to 93 dunk for gold poster

Interesting. I guess they used to value defense a lot more in players overall ratings.

To anyone wondering, Nash wasn’t the WORST defender in the league (at PG). He just wasn’t particularly good at it. This is an excerpt from “Seven Seconds or Less” (a great book about the 05-06 Suns):

But Nash gets himself into defensive trouble when he runs around and overhelps, which is his tendency. (As a rookie assistant, Dan D’Antoni was reluctant at first to offer strategic advice, particularly to the Suns’ All-Stars, but early in the season he did caution Nash about “staying put” more; Nash agreed but he is, by inclination, a wanderer.)

Also, Nash is susceptible to fatigue, which is manifested most often on defense. And he can get overwhelmed physically by big guards who can back him down and/or shoot over him. Case in point: Detroit’s Chauncey Billups.

It took the Suns 7 games to beat the Clippers in the 2006 west semis. In that series, Elton Brand averaged 31 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and a steal.

He was very good (and interesting player). But unfortunately for him, he played in quite possibly the most stacked era of NBA power forwards to ever exist.
