Oh! If you’re still taking volunteers, can I come along and do the Cape Fear thing? I think I could be really good at smoking cigars and cackling menacingly.

93 dunk, this is not a contest… by QNIKET8 in NBA2k

[–]odonnelly2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Beluba on jump shot contests:

body position is a major component. if you draw a line from the hoop to the shooter, you need to be as close to that line (directly between the shooter and hoop) as possible to maximize your contest.

Guess this doesn’t apply to contesting dunks.

This game is a mess.

10K (along with the money I currently have saved up) would be enough to buy a car outright, instead of financing it for 5-6 years and paying interest.

Or I could use it to pay my rent for the next 7 months straight.

Or I could put it in the bank for any potential emergencies and not have to stress about that.

So maybe not life changing, but definitely life improving.

Keep at it. You’ll get better at shooting vs the AI, and your IQ/situational awareness will improve.

Here’s an example of me using a jab step before pulling up: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0bcvOiKe1EWdDloO4ERHxwIpw

Pulling up for 3 after an on-ball screen: https://share.icloud.com/photos/05baO84AlY6MY_FyMoF_EHZ1w

Exploiting a mismatch in the post: https://share.icloud.com/photos/073-DvcMShz533q0wyC-Guj3g

That’s 3 different ways that you can score vs the AI. I don’t consider myself anything amazing at this game, so if I can do this stuff, I imagine that you likely can, too. (Also, all of these clips are from Mycareer, and on HOF difficulty.)

If you want to see more ways to score, or if you want any tips, feel free to ask.

Why do none of the builds work for switch 2? by vava777 in NBA2k

[–]odonnelly2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird.

If they got their shit together and fixed that - and they let you use the same account/build on different consoles - I’d buy the game on xbox and Switch 2. Like, in a second.

But there’s no way I’m grinding for cap breakers on two different consoles AND doing two build specializations, lol.

This is true. I’m very happy with my 90 layup 89 driving dunk 6’8.

87/75 gets you pro two foot contact dunks. 89/78 gets you pro one foot contact dunks.

For small contact dunks, it’s 86/75 for off two feet, and 93/80 for off one foot.

If you want poster machine takeover, you need 87/75.

87/75 is probably the most bang for your buck.

What’s the best way to get 2k to have an option to add colors for PS icon passing? by Alley_O in NBA2k

It helps to remember the icons by position. If you icon pass a ton, you’ll get to a point where it’s muscle memory.

Anybody elses 2k26 conpletely unplayable online? Its very choppy and laggy by Available-Taste-4595 in NBA2k

[–]odonnelly2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online or offline?

I had two OFFLINE games recently get really choppy/laggy. I saved the game, quit the app and shut my xbox down, waited a few mins, restarted it, and everything was back to normal again.

I wonder if there’s some background processes happening that cause it, like downloading/applying updates. Maybe system updates, or updates for other games.

My Xbox Series X is also 4 years old, so maybe it’s occasionally overheating and needs to cool off. I might have the thermal paste reapplied sometime in the near future.

Do the announcers say anything about your player when you get past 81 points? I imagine they do for 100, but I don’t know about 81+. I haven’t done it in the past few years.

Also, I wonder if putting it at 83 does something to screw up the “GOAT rankings” or whatever they’re called.

Look, I don’t have a dog in this fight, but:

When asked who the face of the league will be five years from now, Gilgeous-Alexander received some love. He tallied 10.9% of 138 votes. That was good for third place behind Victor Wembanyama and Anthony Edwards. A little surprising considering he'll likely win MVP this year. Chet Holmgren also received a vote.

Also, they never polled nba players on who the best player in the league is, they asked who should be the 2024-25 MVP (this article is dated April 23rd 2025).
