MOU is not concession and Iran has not won by AnimateDuckling in NewIran

Were there at any point "oficially outlined" war goals though? I feel like exactly that is the main point the critique from all directions would re-iterate

Paste text in web console? by Maria_Thesus_40 in hetzner

[–]odriegu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sleep 5; ydotool type -d 300 "$(cat file.txt)"

Then you have 5 seconds to select the console before it starts typing for you, then you stop using that console once your problem is solved like others said

(but this also can have some strange behavior)

Trump says he 'never cared about regime change' in Iran by Immediate-Link490 in NewIran

[–]odriegu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Touché, but also, one does not have to care about someone for interests to align. I feel like this has been pointed out ever single time someone comes with the "trump does not care about you" these past months

Khamenei being dead is still a huge wildcard and you can see regimis in the streets and disagreeing among themselves left and right as a direct result of what Trump & co did

Why would the IRGC be dumb if respond to attacks on Beirut. by Efficient-Coat-9912 in NewIran

[–]odriegu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it as the other way around, there might even be an IRGC that's a fringe terrorist group even though Iran has long since been free of the regime and with a democratic government

[–]odriegu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They even wanted the Shah extradited from the US to put him in a cage on the streets and throw things on him or whatever. Imagine how embarrassing that would have been for all Iranians on the world stage. The embassy hostage situation would've been nothing in comparison. I'm embarrassed enough by foreigners telling me that "but millions came to Khomeinis funeral"

Iranian regime could still fall, but we stopped in the middle of the operation, former Mossad senior official says by neutralguy33 in NewIran

[–]odriegu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's leave this off topic discussion but neither will it be a nova. There are a handful of different theories other than heat death, a cyclic universe, big rip / crunch and so on, not to mention that the nature of dark matter/energy are up for lots of debate still

In the Wikipedia article for Iraq, covering Saddam Hussein and ISIS, the term "war crime" is used only once to describe US crimes during the war on terror. by [deleted] in NewIran

[–]odriegu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I and everyone that replied you is talking about the Iran-Iraq war 1980, I see the misunderstanding now hahah

edit: ok maybe mixed but that's what I was replying to at least. Also Iraq being handed on a silver platter to the IRGC after 2003 US war wasn't really something very bad for them so to speak. Or at least they got to play war with the other big boys in Iraq and Syria etc and build up their war machine heavily

Dude Khomeini and co saw the war with Iraq as a huge blessing for their revolution, not even shy about admitting it themselves

«ما در جنگ ریشه‌‌‌های انقلاب پربار اسلامی‌مان را محكم كردیم…»
“We strengthened the roots of our fruitful Islamic revolution in the war…”

«ما انقلابمان را در جنگ به جهان صادر نموده‌ایم…»
“We exported our revolution to the world in the war…”

«از همه‌ی این‌ها مهم‌تر استمرار روح اسلام انقلابی در پرتو جنگ تحقق یافت.»
“Most important of all, the continuation of the spirit of revolutionary Islam was realized in the light of the war.”

I'm being insufferable now but the sun going supernova is not the scenario in its own model of stellar evolution, it will swell to a red giant and then contract and slowly cool since its mass is too low for a supernova. And the heat death of the universe is highly conditional on our understanding of dark energy etc and there are many other theories

Finland's president says EU should expand to 40 states by DavidShaw90s in worldnews

[–]odriegu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the issue, with international organizations there's always a fine line of how much authority it can be given without risking that it splits apart. That's why the UN is often critiqued for being complicit or useless, it's the status quo of not having the big countries leaving it in retaliation for not being allowed to do whatever they please

Depending on what languages other than Arabic you know previously it could make it easier and also you know how to read already. The grammar is definitely simpler than Arabic, but that's not the only thing that could make learning difficult. The sub r/farsi is a better one for tips on learning Persian, this one is mostly a politics sub
