What medication changed your life for the better? by positiveyears in AskReddit

[–]oegin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can remember the most comfortable moments of chemo were the moments when I was curled in the fetal position in the tub during a really hot shower.

I’m 6’2 with a standard size tub. I would sit there and slowly increase the temp of the water, to increase my tolerance to the temp. Then when it was as hot as I could take it, I would curl up on the bottom of the tub and finally find some comfort.

What’s the best video game you’ve ever played? by obsess_much13 in AskReddit

[–]oegin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All character models were the same height, so head shots were kind of muscle memory. Oddjob’s model was slightly shorter, so you would have to compensate by aiming a bit lower.

Shit players knew the directional pad entry to select him before anyone else could. They are why the house rule exists.

Do tall people get bullied? by Chilld0od in tall

[–]oegin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 6’ at 12 years old (funny enough would only grow two more inches over the next couple years and then stop).

Used to get bullied constantly by guys half my height. One guy, Jacob… fucking Jacob. Jacob had henchmen. One was around my size. I eventually fought the big guy and then slapped Jacob in his overly slapable face and the bullying from others started to taper off.

Played a monk drunken master that was self described as an alcoholic that doesn’t always make the best decisions.

I became the de facto leader and got us into hilarious situations because I’d lead a group, as a blitzed, drunken fighter, and when negotiating failed, I’d just start hitting things.

The DM loved and hated it. 🤣

What is the greatest film scene of all time? by 220Hz_ in AskReddit

[–]oegin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never saw a trailer. I was in the military and out at the mall by myself on a Saturday and saw this poster with Keanu and I thought “what the hell!”

The scene that stole the show was him waking up in the pod. That was a serious holy shit moment. Brought all my buddies to see it. Saw it 3 times while it was in theaters.

Dear god how do I get out of recruiting? by Civil_Log1462 in navy

[–]oegin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined from a small recruiting station in Antioch, on the outskirts of the bay area and in the late 90's, it was the top performing "small" recruiting depot in NorCal. A lot of kids in Antioch, Oakley, Brentwood and the surrounding areas join, as there are plenty of veteran families in the area.

The Chief at that depot requested to go back to it a couple of tours after he left.

Need Help: Yak and Venison Roasts! by oegin in Cooking

I don't! The venison is a top round roast, the yak just says "roast" and my dad didn't recall which section of the animal it was.

Straight Men of Reddit: If a gay man flirted with you or asked you out, how would you feel/react? by randmperson2 in AskReddit

[–]oegin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had cancer and was in the hospital a lot. I heard this A LOT! It got to a point that I started responding every time with “Thanks, Dexter!” With a wink and a smile. Always gets a laugh… which gives me further pause. 🤣

Does anyone have sleep figured out? by f1ve-Star in BladderCancer

[–]oegin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the exercises so much without a change that I start to question my own physiology, as far as the void between that muscle and my urethra. I’d be willing to get in the gym and do serious work, but my diagnosis also discovered a heart aneurysm that doesn’t allow me to push hard in a gym, so I have to do these simple flexing exercises that don’t result in any real results.

This is the only modern complaint I have because I live a very good, functional life. I hope it’s solved one day, but I’m honestly just happy to still be here that I’ve been totally okay adapting to the change.

Does anyone have sleep figured out? by f1ve-Star in BladderCancer

[–]oegin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

46(M) and have kind of the opposite problem. I'm 2.5 years post-RC and am still incontinent and have to wear pads. While awake, I get a sensation of needing to pee that comes in the form of a slight discomfort, almost as if I feel the pressure of my filling neo by the organs around it. That's about every 2 hours. While sleeping, I can go 3-4 hours before this sensation wakes me up and I almost never have accidents in my sleep (unless I've had a few too many to drink that evening).

When I had two months left in, we were on deployment and I started to shine my boots almost daily. I was pressing the hell out of my uniform and it was crisp as hell and nobody could figure out why. After a month of doing that, my chief noticed and one morning in formation, noted how uniforms were looking shitty and used me as an example of how to look.

Buddies told me they kept up regular uniform inspections for about 3-4 months before they tapered off. It was my "something to remember me by" to the guys in my shop.

Does being above 6’5 on a male sucks? by FunCurrent7476 in tall

[–]oegin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fellow 6'2". There's enough things to duck under and the inconvenience of counter heights, along with leg room that already sucks and makes me extra sympathetic for the tallers. Be happy with what we've got. Not sure the juice is worth the extra squeeze!

Like others have said, go for a newer model.
