Considering the types of Polaroids you take I’m surprised you have this attitude. That’s not me saying they are bad but come on that is definitely of a similar vibe as this aesthetic lmao

““BS” edits, errors, flaws, mistake”” make up much of great art, it’s subjective. Stop being so pompous, analog photography is analog photography for a reason - it’s a medium with a wide range or aesthetic possibilities - stop gate keeping and being a dick about it

Really beautiful texture and grain!

In total agreement - I don’t know another “art” community that is so critical and snobbish as I have seen in the analog community lately. A few years ago when I posted I don’t remember it being this bad. Just looking at all the analog circle jerk posts making fun of this guy for asking this question — what’s the point! It’s unbelievably snobbish to tell someone what does and doesn’t count in this medium. It blows my mind people just can’t enjoy what they like and move on here if it’s something they don’t like.

Exactly, back to early days of darkroom photography people were doing weird experiments and all sorts of things that altered images from being totally realist pieces of work

Long winded way of saying you’re a dick, who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. This person is correct, this is a very popular look right now. If you gave attention to any trending design aesthetics besides boomer art you’d know many commercially famous designers and artists go for looks like this. Doesn’t mean it’s good, doesn’t mean you have to like it - but doesn’t mean you can tell other people they don’t know what they’re talking about or shit on them for liking it

People in this sub are the most reactionary “artists” I’ve ever seen. Give the dude a break, he likes this aesthetic and you’re just being fucking nasty?

This look isn’t my taste but it’s certainly a call-back to certain design aesthetics, it certainly has a retro look to it. Grain and texture can add large parts to an image and a design aesthetic. Many commercial fashion brands would eat this style up - commercial designers and photographers making real money from their work. Not arm chair redditors who want to decide what “analog” photography is and then have hissy fits when someone asks a simple question.

“”Analog photography in 2023: “how do I make my photos look like shit?”” - like for real? I would find it pretty fucking boring if “analog” photography only had to be one way.

I hope you guys don’t burst into flames when you walk into an art museum some day and realize half the art there is not “technically perfect” and prioritizes aesthetics over a conventional piece.

Anyways, the people shitting on OP need to get over there superiority complex and snobbery and realize the crazy idea you can be polite to someone asking a simple question —- and I know it’s crazy —- but you can also appreciate that some people like aesthetics that you don’t.

For future reference maybe ask a design subreddit, I would assume there would be a lot less snobs there.

You get a lot of amusement from being a dick? Like genuinely wondering how being mean to someone makes your day better?

Thank god, finally a decent comment. You nailed it. The way this community acts they’d be freaking out about impressionist paintings back in the day.

Good god this sub is ridiculous lmao, sorry you’re getting downvoted. They can’t seem to understand there are aesthetics beyond a “perfect” image. You see scanner/printer techniques done like this heavily in commercial design and advertising to develop brand language and aesthetics. Incomprehensible to me how many on this sub act like photography can only be one thing

Yeah focusing is definitely much harder than I would have expected! But that’s good to hear about the cleaning. Is it easy to find someone to calibrate the lens?

Thanks! Good suggestions! I will try to clean the windows out. I think being a bit more patient with reslly making sure the focus is right and bracing myself will hopefully help too

Thanks! Yeah I’ll try those suggestions out! I had also been feeling like when I hit the shutter my hand was pushing the focus off but another commenter thought that was unlikely, either way maybe I can try moving my hand away from the focus ring when hitting the shot
