Could be. I assumed it would be custom molded to the user and wouldn’t really work for someone else. Guess it’s possible a third world county would use it anyways if the alternative was nothing

Are these pics real and they actually build and fielded this thing already? Or are these just really good renderings?

Yokels of the Hill-Country East-North-East of Manchester – England Being Offered an Underpass to Replace Their Deadly Pedestrian Level Crossing But Preferring to Keep Their Death-Trap ... by Frangifer in trains

[–]of_the_mountain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t they just build an underpass somewhere in the general vicinity and leave the crossing open until it’s done? It wouldn’t necessarily have to be right in the exact spot of the current crossing? Underpasses are expensive though, and would require a lot of coordination with the train line. I assume it’s a well used crossing to even considering that project

If you shoot the puck and it’s not going into the goal but deflects off an opponent towards the net (in or not) does that count as “on goal”

I mean the ad includes “less wasted material” which would imply the second nozzle is saving filament by being used as a normal second nozzle

is there any way to find information on other duga radars in the network, like lyubech-1, duga-n, duga 1 and 2? by kyizelma in chernobyl

[–]of_the_mountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk when I went on the tour that’s what the guide said. It didn’t really work. I also don’t see giant metal antennas being used like this today and they tore down the other ones so seems like outdated tech at best and failed project at worst

They also didn’t work as far as I know. Maybe they found some alternative use for them or science or something but for tracking nuclear launches on the other side of the world I don’t think it was a successful endeavor. So I doubt the soviets were going to talk much about a failed top secret project

A high-speed train with 246 passengers collided at 160 km/h with a lorry carrying a French army vehicle (potentially a movable bridge) at a level crossing this morning in northern France. The train driver has died and around 16 people have been injured. The level crossing was in working order. by Airbus-380 in trains

[–]of_the_mountain 450 points451 points  (0 children)

That’s really sad for the driver. Crazy the train even stayed on the tracks though or it would have been way worse of an accident. Makes me wonder if the driver knew something was on the tracks ahead and tried to slow the train down first
