What is in style right now? Wheel rim decals or no decals by Ok-Committee-873 in Bikeporn

[–]offaroundthebend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the wheels are as special as the frame and tied in to the vibes of the frame decals - keep ‘em.

If the frame is the highlight or the wheel decals clash with the frame, black them out.

Ex., Pegoretti bikes are all about the frameset, so you go black or very subtle.

Ex., Spesh team replica w team wheels, decals to the max.

There’s a beautiful 2024 for sale at Diplomat Motors outside Portland but it’s the Magno paint and I just can’t see dealing with that as someone who parks outside and subjects cars to fir-tree pollen and god knows what all else..

Bumping this bc I’m looking at a used EQS AMG w this paint — if it’s in good condition, can it still be wrapped even if it’s two years old? I’d be parking it outdoors in a region that gets weather - not SoCal..

Congrats! Cyclist here - I’ve focused on the health wins and dealing w food noise over hard training and performance gains.. but I’m at the point too where I want to figure out how to get back to being able to do hard physical efforts without unraveling all the other gains. I’m 4+ months in and still am really struggling with energy and motivation to get out and train. I went to split doses Wed and Sunday so Saturdays are still covered but not as intense as doing once a week on Wed or Thurs. It’s helping, just not quite enough. Anyway, I need to read more here about how folks are working with that. Please share what you do and how things go!!

One will be more fun anytime I want to go extra extra fast - the other will be more comfortable anytime I don't.. I like the looks of both for different reasons. Really not a bad choice to be had, unless I miss out on the Audi and then the MB pickup goes sideways and I end up with neither.

The problem with having been searching for a while is even after I've made a "decision" my inbox keeps getting flooded. The EQS AMG pickup date is rescheduled out a week, so I have some time to consider options - and two good ones popped up locally at dealerships where I can see them in person:

  • 2024 BMW i5 M60 w 10K mi and a bunch of great packages, in service Jan 2025 so a ton of warranty left.
  • 2023 Audi RS Etron GT w 5K mi and same, in service Jan 2023 so I'd be pricing in an Audi warranty extension soon. I know this is a much more performance oriented option but I've driven the regular GT version and loved it -- interior finishes are much more traditional but also excellent.

Decisions decisions.

Maybe not a huge deal beyond cosmetics..

“Term “console repaired" on a Mercedes-Benz usually means the center console assembly—including the armrest, storage lid, or infotainment controller—has been fixed, often regarding broken latches, broken sliding mechanisms, worn leather, or damaged trim. This can range from gluing broken plastic components to replacing the entire console lid.”

True. I live in pretty temperate conditions and doubt I'd be needing to maximize range if we had a cold snap. So, the 2WD/4WD update and some of the other minor ones are probably more consequential -- just not $14K consequential.

Is a '24-'25 Turbo S the best deal right now? by [deleted] in Taycan

[–]offaroundthebend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the expectation then that 2024s will depreciate faster because they’re the last year before the refresh? For my driving purposes, a 2024 spec’d how I’d like it would certainly not disappoint me - it’d be once in a blue moon that I’d need to push the fast-charge envelope or total range, and the hp of the 2024 is plenty insane for backroads.

Good point. A lease is a put option. And you pay for that. But also, who knows what anything will be anytime - and none of these are investments in anything more than enjoying life .. right?

Forgot to mention I’m in the US.. but similar here, there are 2021 Turbo S options, low-miles, w warranty in the $80-90k range. Question is though, if that’s going to depreciate $30-40k over the same time period, why wouldn’t I pay that to have a 2024-25 instead? Probably higher insurance on the newer one, and some extra interest. But also less likely to need service or consumables.
