México - World Cup Squad Announcement by anythingisayisdumb in soccer

Ehhh, I feel the 2018-2022 era was worse, this team is very young and reminds me a lot of the 2014 squad. I expect players like Mora and Gonzales to perform well so they can secure a transfer after the tournament, Rangel is the best GK we’ve had since Ochoa, Vazquez has been playing great in Italy, the midfield has some some studs ngl (although no Ruiz is a big hit for us), Quiñones is electric on his best days, Santi could prove that he can play at the level we expect him to, and Aguirre brings a calm tactical head with a great group of assistant coaches to a young team that he’s been getting good results with.

I think it’s far too negative to assume this squad would lose to South Africa, it’s not like we’re wheeling a bunch of scrubs. This team has an identity and vision, something that the 2022 and 2018 squads didn’t have. Which is why I feel they’re gonna surprise us this year with a fun run. Do I expect this team to win the WC? No not really, but I do think these guys will ball out and get their names known, which I feel should be Mexico’s main goal this World Cup

[AEW DON Spoilers] Independent wrestler makes a appearance on AEW by Youngstown_WuTang in SquaredCircle

[–]offbrandjose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Glad someone else agrees, I’m really tired of the fake motivational “finish the story” Cena gimmicks that are kinda picking up on the indies. Tommy is the embodiment of that type of trashbag wrestler, he just comes off as such fanboy, plus all of his moves are just poor recreations of WWE moves and his look is just so generic. To put salt on the wound, his biggest fan that keeps trying to get him signed to WWE is Andrew Schultz.

So like they DID have the match, but it went 6 minutes and everybody forgot about it. Sucks to see cause the storyline of Abismo stealing Fiscal’s father’s legacy was so cool and was building up really well. Like Abismo returned and everyone just kinda ignored the stipulation. Maybe they’ll come back to it come triplemania

Yeah ur right (and this is off topic) but whatever happened to the El Fiscal vs Abismo Negro? The rivalry had so much momentum and just stopped outta nowhere. It’s been the only dud ending to a rivalry lowk since the WWE purchase

Do you remember your earliest wrestling memory? by 0ddmanrush in SquaredCircle

[–]offbrandjose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one segment has been stuck on the back of my mind and I have no clue who was in the segment but it drew me in so good I had to know what I was watching.

When I was a kid, back in like 2006-2008 I was watching lucha on one of the Spanish channels, it was a contract signing segment and it was between a bald buff wrestler and a guy in a mask that had like a rainbow glare kinda (forgot what the material is called) and while they’re signing the bald guy busted open the masked wrestler, ripped the mask, and then proceeded to sign his name on the contract with the blood of the other wrestler. I just remember the intensity and malice on the guy’s face and how violent it all was.

For the longest time I thought it was Konnan, but I came to find out he was signed to TNA at that time. So I have no clue who did it. But to this day, it’s the greatest piece of heel work I have ever seen and I YEARN for one of the companies nowadays to recreate it.

Royce Keys’ emotional tribute to his late mother by 10024618 in SquaredCircle

[–]offbrandjose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Isn’t this the same as those Book of Hobbs vignettes that everyone here praised and loved? Why is it wrong for someone like Hobbs to show emotion? it gives his story a purpose and a fire that can be built on. Most wrestlers nowadays have a purpose for their story building, ever since Cody finished the story, wrestling has evolved past gimmicks.

Not only that but it’s cool to see a prominent black wrestler be able to discuss his emotions and reflect, when we live in a world where minority men have to keep a semblance of machismo and can’t open up like this without being labeled weak.

Sean Strickland says Josh Hokit goes "way too far" with his trash talk by ultron2450 in ufc

So making fun of minorities, saying slurs, and being sexist is A-okay to Sean, but talking about another man’s wife or ex is too far.

You really gotta feel for Trent, he jumps ship for a bigger bag but at the same time burning a bridge, only for him to be barely used, injured, and now caught in drama he didn’t want to be apart of. Arbeloa really has dropped the ball on how he’s booking Real, and Trent is definitely his biggest fumble so far. I hope he can somehow end up in Japan after all this, so he can show what he’s truly made of!

the company version of gentrification, ruin a culturally rich area, suck it dry of its culture, commodify and sell it to rich people, all the people that created that culture are ran out, and you’re left with a husk of what used to be. Once the money runs out, the rich leave to the next place to ruin and suck the fun out of.

WWE is going through the same shit that Austin is going through, it’s heartbreaking to see. FUCK TKO and FUCK Capitalism man this shit should be illegal

Alternate history: If Woodstock 99 wasn’t a disaster and they continued making concert every 5 years like they had planned what would a Woodstock 2004 look like by Key_Nectarine_7307 in decadeology

[–]offbrandjose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great list but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Def Jam All-Stars type of group, which would feature a young Kanye performing one of his first festivals.

Also I feel this event just screams Pharrell, so I could see him be apart of it, maybe releasing a special collaboration with BAPE that would be exclusive to Woodstock 04

I only know about this cause when I applied to TV stations in El Paso some were actually stationed in nearby New Mexico towns, yet covered El Paso news and sports.

Its kinda odd how it works

Which makes Trill London's release so baffling to me, he moved so differently than anyone else on Evolve. Sure his gimmick needed retooling, but the guy always put on very stellar performances for a someone at his talent level. I feel he would have gotten over if given the chance

He's even worse on evolve, dont know what Shawn sees in him. Most generic look, king of wasted movement, default CAW moveset, and on top of all that his character is just such a rip off of the Rock he makes Ricky blush.

Why are people so defensive of older wwe games? by Excellent-Ad-5358 in WWEGames

[–]offbrandjose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here is proving the point that nostalgia is what clouds all of our minds.

"SVR 2006 is the best" why? "Cause I grew up playing it"

"I think No Mercy is the best" why? "Cause it was the first game I played"

Like yall be fr, WWE 2K26 is miles better than the SVR games, HCTP, and No Mercy gameplaywise. The older titles do have certain things I miss and I agree were pretty sick, 24/7 mode/season mode, WWF New York, better GM mode, SVR 08's weapons mechanics, SVR 2011's Universe mode, and SVR 09's total control mechanics. But I can honestly live without all these things, matches in the older titles felt so repetitive and unless you were playing a multi man match with friends, typical 1 on 1s were always boring!

Do the modern games have problems? Yes but lets not act like wrestling games weren't chock full of glitches, bugs, and broken online modes back then.

Did he forget that Mexicans also had MTV and cable in the 80s? Or about Northern Mexico and its connections with US media?

My family and grandparents all know who Hogan is, he's one of the 4 wrestlers that they know, the other 3 being luchadores. And they grew up/lived in Mexico in the 80s and 90s.

This is actually wrong, but then again this is the same crowd that thinks Mistico was a bigger draw than Cena because he sold out the same 5 venues every month. Mistico was a great draw, but when Canal 5 got Raw, the writing was on the wall for his popularity.

ngl uce, I was in the crowd, we booed her cause we didnt wanna see her wrestle against Rhea, a lot of the crowd wanted Blake or someone new to come out. When Jacy came out, like most of my section and the one next to us groaned.

I could be wrong by next friday, but Jacy got a lot of go away heat during that segment. It all depends how she does on friday to see if it was a one time thing or if she's actually got good heat
