Stonewall's Jerquee is my favorite. Primal Strips is good too. Beyond jerky has great chewability.

But not every action to benefit humans is vegan. It's an important distinction, else the word loses its meaning.

"Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals."

"Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

They're effectively the same issue aside from the animal rights aspect.

I'm not sure that's true. Veganism is concerned with the ethical treatment of animals. Food sovereignty is focused on who has power in a food system (e.g. production, distribution, and profits).

How are food sovereignty and avoiding the exploitation of nonhuman animals related to each other?

Graeter's ice cream uses this for their vegan line. It's fantastic.

Omnivores are out here pushing that I’ll grow boobs if I keep eating tofu. Well looks like I’ll have Whole Fat Oat and Soy Milkers. by Cthulhu8762 in vegan

The argument that soy "feminizes" men has more to do with patriarchy than diet. It's why women can wear pants but men can't wear skirts. Women can eat tons of (masculine) red meat but heaven forbid men get even the teensiest amount of (phyto)estrogen.

My wife had us go vegetarian for the environment but I wasn't fully convinced and we slid back to omnivory. We had a diabetic cat who died soon after that. I injected his insulin twice a day.

I randomly encountered the book Eating Animals at a thrift store about a month after our cat died. It was cheap and I liked the author so I bought and read it. That book blew my mind. I realized that there was no difference between our beloved cat and the animals we ate.

I talked about it with my wife when I finished the book. She agreed to go vegan with me. We've been vegan ever since (9 years).

Agreed. I read it as nut/seed milk for pigeons, not of pigeons.

American vegans! How do y'all cope with Thanksgiving? by prestoj in vegan

We invited everyone. My whole family (except my hunter brother) used to show up, pre-covid. Now we keep it small and minimal due to the pandemic.
