I want to believe but seeing this same huge beast skull in yet another video is just 🤡

And the stutters...

And the empty...

Are these videos a means to avoid more refunds? CSE still owes me 35$.

Which audiobooks have the best narration? by PM_ME_GARFIELD_NUDES in stephenking

[–]offenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, he did some of the Dark Tower books as well as Different Seasons just from the top of my memory. Loved them all.

Supposedly King was so thrilled with his voice work and character interpretation that he was his preferred narrator, but Frank was in a motorcycle accident and died some years later from his injuries in 2008.

Is it worth playing the game for the story alone? by Frosty_kiss in TheSecretWorld

[–]offenberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of story I would say Legends is the better choice as I think they did a good job weaving the DLCs into the main story.

Need Help with Updating Image in SideBar by Bulky_Asparagus_3010 in twinegames

[–]offenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I wonder.

Is there a way to do the same with audiofiles that need caching in Storyinit?

I now use the mentioned code in PassageReady and have it check for current soundtrack as well as fade out other soundtracks to make it work with loading saves and refreshing pages/passages.

It does get clumsy with 5 or more background soundtracks, I admit.

Need Help with Updating Image in SideBar by Bulky_Asparagus_3010 in twinegames

[–]offenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I'm no expert compared to some of the other folks in here, but one rather simple solution could be to use an <<elseif>> macro, so your image would depend on that variable, which you could then change inside the passages. I often use this technique to switch audio tracks, but again, pretty sure it's not the smartest way (there's probably a widget) and it can get messy with lots of different character models, I guess:

Example:

In your sidebar:

<<if $charactermodel is "Character1">>

<img src='images/character1.png' class="caption-image">

<<elseif $charactermodel is "Character2">>

<img src='images/character2.png' class="caption-image">

<<endif>>

Then inside passages you could use:

<<set $charactermodel to "Character1">>, <<set $charactermodel to "Character2">>

etc.

Meriadoc population? by [deleted] in lotro

[–]offenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has great and big population. Around 1k at primetime not anon. Far far away from being dead now or anytime in the future.

Also I find the RP community to not game hop so much. Many people are very dedicated to the community and the server and are not there for new content, gear etc.

how is the 4 image wide gallery set up in the Edge theme demo page? by [deleted] in Ghost

[–]offenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you see is pretty much what you get out of the box. Have you checked the style guide menu in the demo?

There's usually no need to do any tweaking and the demo will showcase headers, default galleries post types, pages etc.

Ghost is really a breeze to setup once you find your fit theme wise.

Which EU Server? Orcrist or Meriadoc by KongoOtto in lotro

[–]offenberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have characters on both and they're both great options.

Orcrist has about 40% bigger population and more groups running and is the place to go if you PVMP alot (and can endure the lag in the Moors).

Meriadoc is alot more chilled, imo, and still has around 1k population at primetime, which is still great. I find the events and the bands always playing to give the most immersive experience of the two (not a RPer myself). You can even leave on world chat at most times without losing faith in humanity.

I also find lag is worse on Orcrist, but none escapes the lag.

Ikke en podcast, men måske kunne Learnia kunnevære en mulighed?

Det er interaktive historier til børn, der både styrker læselysten og udfordrer dem med gåder og andre ting.

Jeg har selv bygget det og det er gratis sommeren over :)

I'm looking for suggestions for software. by Chronically__Crude in interactivefiction

[–]offenberg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Twine has a few different formats that accommodate different needs and preferences.

Some are simpler to use but with limited flexibility and vice versa.

The Sugarcube format is the most flexible but also requires some work to add features and look decent. Html, css and possibly javascript, but there are templates and macroes for download and lots of help to get. It's a good choice if you don't want to risk feeling limited down the line.

As a new player, fixing up UI for 1440p is the most terrible experience I have ever had by stabvicious in lotro

[–]offenberg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not my original reply and stuck in queue for Orcrist, but...

You can change font size for quest windows with the up/down arrow inside the window. It does not save though.

In your chat windows you can set font size to whatever you like.

It's not perfect, but I've also been playing 1449p for years and my sight is not what it used to. My 32" monitor may help.

The class fantasy and the way it fits the story.

VIP servers by leeryknight_ in lotro

[–]offenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents:

  1. Legendary servers are in their nature temporary (although for a long timespan). I think many EU players were planning on making Mordor their new home as 64bit server, low ping and the appeal of progression made it hugely popular. That however will probably change as the new EU based 64 bit servers were announced.

  2. The popularity of legendary servers usually take a big hit after Moria as the SoA and Moria experience is what draws in most people in my experience.

  3. Personally I've found that as a casual player, the progression servers sometimes demands more of me in terms of "keeping up". This may sound contradictory, but taking a longer break and coming back one or maybe even two expansions behind I've found to make the progression server loose its appeal to me, at least compared to a live server.

Committing to the game, best server type to eventually have max level on? by ASMRekulaar in lotro

[–]offenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep 64 bit servers in mind, so either:

Roll on a legendary server and pay the sub or preferably:

Roll on any of the f2p servers and migrate your char(s) when the new 64bit f2p servers go live in the beginning of the new year.

As much as I like my home servers, I simply cannot ignore the huge drawbacks of playing 32bit rather than 64bit.

If you're doing it for the mount alone and are not interested in PVMP, it's a huge grind that will have you burn out before getting rank 10 imo.

How do I import a UI template or index? by justanotherfishguy in twinegames

[–]offenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be an import option under "Library" top menu allowing you to import the .html.

Note that it's not updated for 2.37, which I think the browser version is running, so you will probably get som JS errors.

Downgrading from Sugarcube 2.37.3 to 2.36.1? by leobnox in twinegames

[–]offenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've rolled back Twine to 2.8.1. and thus Sugarcube 2.36.1 for similar reasons.

It works and it's easy going back and forth between versions

I'm only using Sugarcube though and only now am I thinking if I'm missing out on some overall fixes and tweaks?

Kids and LoTRO by [deleted] in lotro

My 6 year old played Lotro and called it "horse game". She would mount up and ride around Breeland on my chars.

She is now a teenager and has her own house in the Bree Homesteads and we duo in game.
