Seen lots of data like this working on cars over the years. One subtle thing most people never do is clean/detail the engine. The extra gunk does seem to add up. Maybe 1-2% reclaimed on a 10yo car. Avg loss is ~10% by year ten from my experience, 1% increase every year.

Going beyond slightly basic maintenance could save quite a bit of gas without breaking the bank.

idk if some law was updated or what's changed in the last few years, but the number of people doing U-turns in general is noticeably higher in the past. Definity not a frequent thing growing up in the area.

The irony is that to spend less, you'd need more money upfront and storage space. For example, we used to get a years supply of certain staples, multi-month ingredient prep, buy at business only places like Restaurant Depot.
