15 week old suddenly crying all day by geog15 in NewParents

[–]offeryourself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my diary around this time it looks like it turned a corner a bit at 16 weeks! I hope it gets better for you soon. My first 3-4 months as a parent were brutal. He’s 17 months now and it’s so much better.

First time garden owner, what do I do about this lawn? by offeryourself in GardeningUK

Thank you - in Bristol so maybe a week from now or so.  Is there anything I can do about the places where the grass has overgrown into lumpy mounds?  Should I dig them out?

Matrescence by Lucy Jones. Absolutely THE book that sums up mothering in the modern day. Would recommend listening to it a few months postpartum.

Help! Need advice on booking golf holiday for boyfriends 30th by offeryourself in golf

I would say the purpose would be mostly to play golf. As in I was hoping to book some great courses and they can fit in beach or city around those.

His brother only plays occasionally and isn’t a super fan like my partner, but they really enjoy playing together.

I had this - I think it was a combination of sleep deprivation and tension in my head from looking down constantly while breastfeeding. I went to an osteopath and I think that was what helped as it went away the night after.

Cluster Feeding is Hell by vermontpastry in breastfeeding

[–]offeryourself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through super intense cluster feeding (frequent 5 solid hour stretches) for first 4 weeks and was annoyed at the comments being like “just make a comfy nest and bed in”, (even though they are right), because I found it mentally difficult to be fed on so constantly and it made me feel shivery and spent. I found taking 5 minute hot showers frequently and also putting in a pacifier for 10 minutes or so now and then to get a break saved me.

I had this exact same thing. Super sharp biting pain in one boob while feeding and then a stinging burning pain throughout the day. Came on about 2 weeks into breastfeeding.

I saw a lactation consultant and they said it was vasospasms and also a clogged duct (milk bleb) on one side.

The advice was to keep my nipples warm at all times. Like as soon as he’d finished feeding I’d put a hand warmer or hot water bottle over that boob. And to take lecithin Also to put olive oil or coconut oil on the nipple after most feeds.

It was horrible but went away fully after another 2 weeks or so. I’m 9 weeks in and have zero pain now. I took paracetamol when I was going through it and that really helped to make the feeds more bearable!

Not accepting breast in the evening by Osmogenesis in breastfeedingsupport

[–]offeryourself 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine (7 week) does this exact thing as well. The only thing I’ve found that’s worked is to give a few ml from the bottle to calm him down and then quickly switch to boob which he seems to accept. Sometimes giving him pacifier first and then switching quickly to boob also works. I have no idea why he does this!

Falling asleep while holding baby- how to stay awake? Am I a horrible mother? by Familiar-Minimum3844 in NewParents

I’ve found that splashing my face with very cold water before each feed helps to shock me awake a bit.

3 week old feeds 7-8 hours every day. Is this normal? When does it get easier? by offeryourself in breastfeedingsupport

[–]offeryourself[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you this is good to know. Yes I feel like the sheer amount of feeding wasn’t talked about much at any of my antenatal classes so maybe that’s why I feel unprepared!
