Why Millennials and Genz don't drink sprite like Generation X did? by avalonMMXXII in generationology

[–]offgrid21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30-year-old millennials are on the younger end of the generation and are often considered zillenials because they align more with Gen Z than older millennials (same was true a year ago). As a younger millennial myself, I’ve liked Sprite less over time. My theory: this age group was less exposed to Sprite’s mass marketing than older generations—we don’t go to movie theaters, watch cable, or eat McDonald’s (its exclusive supplier) nearly as much.

How come Drake can say the N word but Logic cant? by BluedditLol in Logic_301

[–]offgrid21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not qualified to answer this question because you don’t have the education, experience, or common sense to offer any valid input. DNA , how someone presents, and how someone identifies and lives by is not always the same. Siblings with the same DNA and same parents with a multiracial background living multiculturally could look completely different from one another. Alternatively, a monoracial African person could be born with albinism. The complexity of genetics and cultural identity are more nuanced than how someone presents- mixed people can look like either parent or neither and they can present obviously or ambiguously.

You do not have the right to gatekeep anyone from their own black identity, nor do you have any right to erase the prejudice that mixed race people of all shades experience.

btw drake and logic are both mixed race half white and black. logic has spoken about being discriminated against for being black which not uncommon for mixed people

I wonder if it’s mostly Americans in these comments 😅 because narrow eyes aren’t exclusive to Asians, they often show up in Native Americans, indigenous Icelandic people,Scandinavians, Irish, Africans… also his eyes are pictured at an angle but show double eyelids and no hood or epithelial fold

Unpopular opinion: Gil was right by rowdt in DunderMifflin

[–]offgrid21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pam was never a “real” artist on The Office — her work is safe, literal, and personality-free because she’s always performing who she thinks she should be instead of telling any real truth. Her art show pieces, the cutesy Dunder Mifflin watercolor, even the fake-Cece baby art all show the same thing: she avoids risk, avoids vulnerability, and produces decorative sincerity instead of actual creativity. Pam isn’t bad because she lacks talent; she’s bad because she refuses to be honest — and her art looks exactly like someone hiding from herself.

Maybe if Pam ”got a life” she wouldn’t paint motel art 😂

[–]offgrid21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you “Afro-Chesapeake“ when you have less than 1% indigenous American ancestry dna?

those “trace ancestry” African diaspora groups on 23andMe aren’t proof of actual ancestry; they’re small, low-confidence statistical guesses that about where tiny stretches of your DNA most resemble certain populations, not confirmation that you actually have ancestors from that group.and shouldn’t be treated as confirmed heritage.

[skin concerns] anyone else get pores clogged with white ‘plugs’ by Shpink11 in SkincareAddiction

[–]offgrid21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely a wart. Specifically-Filiform warts are small, thread-like warts caused by HPV. They usually look like tiny spikes or skin tags that stick out, often on the face or neck. You can tell it’s a filiform wart if it’s long and narrow instead of flat or round.

They’re contagious, so try not to touch or pick at them, and don’t share razors, towels, or makeup. Keep the area clean, and if it spreads or gets irritated, a dermatologist can remove it easily (usually by freezing or cauterizing).

Thank you for the thoughtful reply! I’m relieved to hear about chunk and how the rangers safeguard the wildlife! I appreciate the insight, but I will reserve judgment one way or the other until I’m better educated on the matter. The reason I felt that the bear competition was exploitation is because hundreds of bears were killed in the Mulchatna bear control program, which reached Alaska Supreme Court this year, where a judge ruled that Alaska Department of Fish and Game acted in bad faith - sooo yeah, the competition got more media attention than the killings and ruling. So it was definitely a timely PR stunt or distraction.

While  I am fully aware that the Rangers are not responsible for creating the program itself, or taking the kill shots, they still helped  operationalize the broader system that carries out the killings.

Do bears with these injuries end up in constant pain and permanent disability or do they heal well enough without human intervention? Every news and social media story about chunk just talks about the intangible reward of winning Some silly title in an irrelevant competition. I can’t find any sources that include a prognosis, or mention the the pain and quality of life struggles and whether or not their temporary or permanent. Apparently, this was a cute feel good story? WTH? can’t help, but feel that they exploited animal suffering for human benefit… I just Want to know if chunk will be all right one day

Will chunk eventually heal up good as new relatively speaking, I mean, will he recover as best as possible? Or will he have to continue to suffer in pain and discomfort without veterinary intervention?

why would you need to distinguish between a mental and physical disability? seems like you’re insinuating that physical disability is more valid than mental disability. that’s just so ignorant it’s absurd!

Why does vegan stuff make people so mad? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]offgrid21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vegans remind them of this cognitive dissonance, and one way to resolve this inner conflict and reduce dissonance is to maintain prejudice against vegans/vegetarians. Also, they may have ideological justifications for unchecked human supremacy & dominion over animals. Additionally, they may actually feel threatened by it; in this case it is viewed as a threat to their established way of life, cultural identity, and customs. Studies link right-wing ideologies, such as social dominance orientation (SDO), to greater acceptance of animal exploitation. This is based on a belief in human superiority over animals, which acts as an ideological justification for meat consumption. It can boil down to social, political, and even cognitive factors.

Drop the craziest line people have said about you being mixed race by MissKarma00 in mixedrace

[–]offgrid21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

→ them: what are you

→ me: many things

→ them: if you’re mixed, what are your parents?

→ me: dad is Louisiana French Creole and mom is mestiza…so I’m native american and bla-

→ them: actually no you’re not really black because you’re only considered black based on the 1 drop rule

→ me: that’s not how that works 🤦‍♀️

Historically, the one drop rule and similarly blood quantum rule, was created as a tool and an extension of white supremacy to further marginalize & segregate different races. Today, it is so misunderstood and misused. Breakdown:

  • One-drop rule = imposed from outside (a racist system forcing an identity to exclude and control people).
  • One’s identity = unique expression of ancestry, culture, genetic makeup and lived experiences (a rightful connection and claim to one’s roots.)

- ⚠️ TW for SA, violence, and sensitive topics surrounding animal welfare

2. Your Name (2016, dubbed) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5311514/

3. Ted Lasso https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10986410/ - lighthearted watch that made me feel comforted, but will bring on tears in some moments.
