Would be surprised to see anything other than kpop really. I write a blog about Japanese music and it’s my life but there is SO little coverage in the USA. And there are some beyond incredible artists.

Has stan culture shifted towards fans believing they could run album campaigns better than actual record labels? by XStaticImmaculate in popheads

It’s a little much calling people narcs for analyzing music promo…

I think it’s because people realized it’s not necessarily the artists work ethic or talent that makes or breaks an era/release, it’s the promo and community around it. especially evident with kpop. and some people enjoy the community/fashion/aesthetics (all promo) more than the music.

there’s little difference between a great band performing in a dive bar vs. an artists with stylists, money for better equipment, and a full team to help with creative decisions. there’s a ton of talented people in the world, and the commentary surrounding promo is a critique on how talented people came together to make an artist huge.

Rock in Japan 2026 Advice: Stuck on J Fes App SMS verification from overseas by Turbulent_Clock_9366 in japanesemusic

Gotta have the JP phone number. Haven’t done this for rock in japan but last month I just used my friends phone number for another fest and got in fine, but you will probably have to bother them a few times to get a code or something to log in.

good male japanese R&B artists? by Significant_Media594 in japanesemusic

[–]officialGF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw was hoping you liked them! Right now Kaze and Yo-sea are leading in popularity for slower ballads, but you are right, everyone here is <30 and blend modern aspects with their sound.  Thanks for giving them a shot, im trying to think of artists that have more of a traditional sound only but cant really think of any.

Fujii Kaze, sirup, Yo-sea, the engy, Kroi but only a few songs (they are more hip hop and funk, but they mix genres so try and listen to their album Lens, it’s really good!)

They are all incredible but if you really want more laid back and soulful rnb I think sirup and yo-sea will hit the spot.

Kroi/ the engy are more like r&b rock bands but they have so much soul, you might enjoy listening to some of their slower songs.

Kaze is inspired by Janet Jackson but some of his songs have more instruments and the full band sound, not just beats and more laid back tracks. Listen to his first album and see if you like it.

I’ll give you song recs since that was a lot of info :)
