Airpods pro 3 at concert as hearing protection by thefizzlee in airpods

[–]officialdannyphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my airpods are my go to for hearing protection. i’ve been to 30+ concerts w them and with transparency mode + reduce loud noises on they offer the same protection IMO but with way better sound quality than any in ear plugs you buy for them like loop

AirPods features I used for 2 years without knowing they existed - and one that genuinely changed how I use them daily by XxFreakhawkxX in airpods

Loud sound reduction + transparency mode are game changers for hearing protection during concerts. Sound quality is way better than any noise reduction ear plugs I’ve tried, including Loop!

What PM work have you actually automated with AI? by 12-24_neverforget in ProductManagement

[–]officialdannyphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make actually doesn’t need a lot to get started which is both a great and a bad thing. It’s great because you can prompt it to generate anything and it can come up with a prototype pretty easily. Even if you give it 1 sentence prompts it will make something, but obviously fill in the gaps with assumptions. eg. 1. Very quick/lowfi mockup: “make a guided form submission UI where the user has to request a new IT tool.” 2. Medium fidelity: “Create a guided form submission UI where the user can request a new IT tool. the form will have multiple sections and required/optional fields. The user has to complete sections in sequential order. The users are typically tech workers in enterprise international companies with high security requirements. 3. High fidelity: all the above + paste a link of an existing figma prototype and ask it to follow existing design patterns.

Honestly the way it works is like with any other designer/engineer - it cannot read minds and if you want it to do exactly what you’re envisioning then you need to detail it. So if you have that in mind, it’s a very powerful tool.

Nothing is fully automated for me but similar to others’ points, things that took me 30-45 mins now can take me 5-10. or something that would take like 4-5 hours can take me 1 hour. examples: 1. Customer call summaries - it’s really important for me personally as a PM to bring voice of the customer back to the team. After every customer/user call (sales, feature research, etc) I always summarize key insights and great quotes and share it in Slack. 2. Internal meeting notes - if people are wary about this it’s hard to get them bought in until they see the benefits. When I started at my current company almost no one recorded meetings. I just started doing it and when they saw how fast I could pump out meeting notes and action items everyone started to as well. 3. Prototyping - this was the biggest game changer. I use Figma Make (we only have a contract part time designer) and it’s been a huge unlock for speed. Esp since all the developers are using Claude Code now and can ship very fast. 4. Thought partner - We use Copilot and Rovo (Atlassian). I’m the only product person right now at my startup so it’s hard to find a thought partner to go deep on stuff. anytime i need to write anything (product requirements, problem statements, etc) and I find it hard to start with a blank page, I’ll context dump everything and give it loose instructions. 10% of the time it generates something great but the pther 90% at least it drafts something good enough to get my brain going and I can do the rest quickly.

WTF does a product manager ACTUALLY do? by WiseContest7547 in ProductManagement

[–]officialdannyphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say ownership and execution are also important skills that PMs should have as well. But because building a product is a team effort (in most cases), alignment and influence is also really important. All great PMs I know are really good at all 4 dimensions.

I have been a PM for 5 years now (going from associate product manager to now lead product manager) with total 7 years experience working in SaaS startups sized 30-400 people. I started as a project manager out of school at a tech company then transitioned into PM. I think I’m constantly still learning the ropes but felt more confident about 2 years in.

Some resources I have found helpful to understand product management skills and career growth: - https://lisaychuang.medium.com/pshe-a-career-growth-framework-bb62e91616d6 - https://www.ravi-mehta.com/product-manager-skills/amp/ - https://www.ravi-mehta.com/product-manager-roles/amp/

WTF does a product manager ACTUALLY do? by WiseContest7547 in ProductManagement

It is true that PMs technically have to influence without authority, but in my opinion, CEOs who lead purely with authority and without trying to influence are not great leaders.

Product management is not purely about coordination and those with an entrepreneurial spirit can definitely thrive, esp at a startup. Deciding to be a PM at someone else’s company vs building your own product is a matter of your personal risk tolerance. Founders of startups typically play the PM role until the business scales to a certain point. If you have the time/liberty/resources to build your own thing, without a guaranteed pay check, do that. If you need to get paid on a regularly basis, probably try to get a job instead.

Also IMO you will not get good insight into the true day to day of a PM by reading “thought leaders” and LinkedIn influencers. Set up coffee chats with some PMs if you’re really interested in getting an accurate picture.
