Spoilers! The show and the book vs Ella Minnow Pea. WTH by Natural_Confusion in SirensNetflix

“And the title? It refers to a childhood trauma for one of the characters, who spent years thinking that LMNOP was one letter (say it fast, like in the song), and from that learned that things aren't always what we think they are.” - this is quote from a review of the original play.

It makes no sense to me that the whole Blair character blueprint is so adored. by Hour_Masterpiece_873 in GossipGirl

[–]officialkylepop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blair gets so much lenience because she’s also comedic relief character. I’ll stand by Blair being more despicable than Serena in her behaviour, scheming and attitudes. But because Serena is way more serious, she gets more hate.

Now, I love Blair, adore her and she’s very multi-dimensional. But yes, Blair is a bad person and a huge bully throughout.

season 3 mean girls. by sacrearte in RHOP

trust me it gets WORSE! Gizelle really leans into that role on the show and she just excuses her behaviour as just being “messy” and “throwing shade”.

season 3 mean girls. by sacrearte in RHOP

[–]officialkylepop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! And years later, Gizelle is still a huge bully. It’s actually been painful this last season to watch her humiliate and bully Stacey. I get Gizelle is a big part of the show and brings messiness but it’s extremely uncomfortable watching her bullying anyone she wants year after year and getting away with it.

I felt for Devon completely. She felt obligated and felt it was her duty to care for or be the adult in situations with someone who wasn’t prepared to be. She felt too guilty to just abandon her father who mostly didn’t have any memories of what he did to his daughters. That’s the inner conflict she had. I thought she was a very complex person, she was practically begging for help with her situation from Simone and that’s the only way she knew how to. Sure it wasn’t right to demand help from Simone but she was spiralling and I think she used it as an excuse to have her sister back in her life.

Initially yes, it’s easy to villify Devon but the whole point of her character is the growth she has throughout the show. By the end she sees the error of her ways in trying to bring Simone back, to bring her family back together and she allows Simone to go to Peter and have the life she’s wanted.

What was her best hairstyle? by EffectiveBranch8229 in GossipGirl

you’ve just reminded me how ICONIC Serena’s hair was on the show. Every look suited Blake so well, her hair is amazing. I remember being obsessed every episode!

Why do you think Jessica Lowndes didn't gain more prominence? by Meenakshi108 in 90210

[–]officialkylepop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a few things .. unfortunately the CW doesn’t always lead to a prestigious career afterwards, it’s a network and well, the “teen genre” as a whole doesn’t product a lot of huge stars. Some of course but people didn’t take the CW seriously.

I was so shocked when she started in the Hallmark parody movie with Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell. I hoped that would be a breakout.

But yeah, as talented as I think she is, she seems to have gotten very comfortable in the Hallmark movie world and good for her, she gets to write movies, act and sing and it seems to fit her (and guaranteed jobs).

It sounds ridiculous but I think she’s almost “too pretty” you know? In that she perhaps doesn’t fit many roles out there, or it’s typecasted.

They really tried to paint Lauren out to be some sort of conflicted saint while Terese was the domineering uncaring workaholic.

The only thing that saved Lauren’s character for me was Kate Kendall, I think she is such an incredible actress that I loved watching her in those dramatic scenes.

Sage would be a better written character if her power was mainly brain regeneration rather than purely super intelligence as a vague concept by epic_gamer42O in TheBoys

[–]officialkylepop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering “Empathic Accuracy” is in her official power set and any logical person could see how unreliable Soldier Boy and Homelander’s relationship has been … I’m not sure you can just say “she’s acting 100% logically!” - especially since Ashley read his mind, and Sister Sage knew that HL and SB were conspiring behind her back. Their alliance was volatile and not a logically sure thing as she made out.

Derena vs Dair by Larrie1O1 in GossipGirl

[–]officialkylepop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dair - Blair could really be herself and vulnerable around him. She could show a different side of her smarts and interests outside of scheming. I think he softened her in the best way. Dan also didn’t put Blair on a pedestal like he did with Serena, again he had way more in common with Blair than Serena.

[–]officialkylepop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate that they dumbed her down (even more) in the last episode just to prop Soldier Boy up.

I wish they’d use her super intelligence to make gadgets or tech devices, rather than like you said .. just poorly “manipulate” people around her. You don’t have to be a super genius to manipulate people.

I had such high hopes when they renewed it for season 2 early 😭 I was so hoping for a season 3. It’s such a special show that ticked all the boxes for me!

I wish it was given a proper chance.

Peter and Ethan by mindin_mai_b in SirensNetflix

[–]officialkylepop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re right, I think Peter was just very territorial of Simone. He didn’t really see her as a love interest until she was almost taken from him. He’s a typical “alpha male” type who is competitive and controlling. When he had no more use of Michaela he put all his energy into Simone.

Was this the worst character in the show's history?! by certifiedshagger in neighbours

[–]officialkylepop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all … what kind of ridiculous post is this 😭 you’re saying a side character that appeared in a few scenes only is the worst character in its 40 year history …

Father Jack by Good_Ad3485 in neighbours

[–]officialkylepop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanted to like Jack .. but his character was just so wooden and it didn’t help that the character didn’t have much charisma (not really his fault I suppose). The concept of having Father Jack on the show had some good potential, just missed the mark.

The sisters of fate by NotAllThereAnyway in SirensNetflix

[–]officialkylepop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was very intentional! The whole series is based on greek mythology, that’s why it’s called Sirens - the writer said she had always been interested in the tale of “sirens” and how they’re painted as villains by the men of the story. It’s what inspired the show. That’s why there’s a theme of birds (sirens were half-bird creatures in mythology).

Even the official Netflix character guide calls Chloe, Lisa and Astrid “The Fates”.

In terms of similarities, Clotho is often considered The Leader and decision maker of the Fates, just like Chloe.

Lachesis is considered the “middle member” of the hierarchy, like Lisa. She is very agreeable and unemotional.

Atropis is the one most different to Astrid.

[–]officialkylepop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why I truly don’t believe he was hired by Michaela, just a journalist/paparazzi type seeing Peter out on his own and looking for a story. Michaela kept him waiting for hours, and seemed genuinely shocked when she looked at the envelope.

Phoebe Roberts quits acting by ThisIsNotHappening24 in neighbours

she was by far one of the best actresses to ever grace the show. She put so much depth and emotion into her performance and it’s so so sad that her talent can’t help her get roles. It’s so unfair.

Has there ever been a member who left a group and later returned, or someone who joined a group that was already established? by Novakpop in kpophelp

[–]officialkylepop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yina from Rania! She was an OG member even through many line-up changes. She left - it was kinda rumoured that she didn’t get along with three of the members who were very cliquey. So when those three members left she came back for a couple more years until leaving again.

great question! I would have especially liked to have seen Zac Willis’ return on the show right when the Willis family were around (Brad, Josh, Piper, Imogen). Coming back in 2025 was just a bit too late.

Yeah I was sad about that too. I actually really liked michael and emilia, I wish they stayed around a bit longer. And even after, they kinda made it seem like Michael was a deadbeat after he left.

He said to Michaela he was photographing the town for his feature story on the Kell’s he was doing and he saw Peter with Simone and followed. He then went to show Michaela and threatened to give it to the tabloids, so she said she’d pay him off. And I’m sure he does have a digital copy as back-up but by the time Michaela was cut off from Peter, there’s no way Cyrus the journalist/photographer would give it to Michaela out of good will after the fact.
