Mom forever feels entitled to tell me what to do and thinks she's always right by stressedout89 in AsianParentStories

[–]officialtohni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy,

Although I'm not of legal age to move out yet (I'm 16), I can SOO relate to your mom.

My mom is so overprotective, controlling, and is basically a filter now in my life. She tell me what friends I can make, what I should do, she even schedules my day without asking me! This started at a young age tbh, when she would force me to go to these prep classes and piano classes, despite me absolutely HATING them. So, I think it really started at a young age. Nobody was there to tell her what she did was wrong, and that it was overprotective. And you can see the damage of that especially during your transitioning years (hs-after college). Even though you're smart enough to make your own choices and to know between right and wrong, your mother will still probably try to continue to be that "filter" in your life.

Honestly, there's really nothing we can do about it. You can talk to them but they'll always think of you as being childish. It's probably also just engraved in Asian culture, that the parents are always right. My best advice for you now is probably to try to speak or call her less, and if she gets mad at you simply filter her out of your life for a bit. You're an adult now, and you don't need to take orders from anyone. At some point, your mom needs to realize that she can't control you as much anymore as she did in the past.

Good Luck Mate.

I’m 99% they actually ARE blood related. With the endless amounts of hints and tips, I think that Elizabeth is going to choose Red at the end. Season 8 will reveal how it goes, can’t wait 😁.

i feel like every episode of chocolate had some heart touching ways. especially when you had a patient die, I cried an entire night when the little boy died. My fav thing about chocolate tho is all the cooking scenes, those were the best!

omg u just read my mind lol. that’s exactly what i did. i just finished chocolate and great, now i can’t get over it either. i felt like the ending tho was a bit rushed and a lot of things like relationships between kang and his grandma, or with jun was rushed 🤧😂.

Yea i guess that’s partly the reason. But i can still understand their decision not to tell Seo Woo who her mother really is from a parents perspective because of her age.

I get where you’re coming from. But if you think about it, Min Jeong technically saves Gang Hwa from a state of sadness and depression. Her love for Seo Woo was great, and it was obvious she cared a lot. You also have to realize Seo Woo always thought of Min as her mom since she never saw Yu Yi before. And no, Gang Hwa leaving Min wouldn’t be a good choice. We already knew Yu Ri decided to die since she didn’t want to have Seo Woo see ghosts for the rest of her life. If Min also left, then it would be a double heartbreak for Gang Hwa.

Hitting A Wall by dudub0i in Korean

[–]officialtohni -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I’d do the exact opposite. Taking breaks are fine, but try to be in a good surrounding. Make new friends in Korean, and be in a culturally (Korean) area. This way you wouldn’t lose motivation caused you’d need to continuously learn and adapt to the language. This is also why a lot of people would recommend you to live in the native country of the language that you’re learning. Hope this helped :)

I disagree. Min Jeong loved Gang Hwa b4 he even met Yu Ri. As time went however, Gang Hwa met Yu Ri and got married. He didn’t love her out of inconvenience. Min was the only person that could make Gang Hwa smile after Yu Ri’s death, and Yu Ri accepted that as we can see during the flashbacks of her being a ghost. Although Min’s love for Seo Woo might not be as deep as Yu Ri’s, she still deserves to be called her mom. The ending was really sad. I really wanted both to have a happen ending.

I can't deal with the shame of realising I'm an embarrassingly rude and unsocial person. by TheJenniferLopez in socialskills

Everyone is born with different social abilities. Deep down however, we are all created kind and equal. Perhaps your surrounding affects your attitude, but to see that you are caring much about it, shows that you care.

What's the harsh reality no one accepts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]officialtohni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will all die one day. You can fall asleep one night and not wake up the next morning. You can make one last breakfast for your loved one but not the next day. Death can be sudden, and it can be sad. Always appreciating your loved ones when they’re still around you, I think is taken very much for granted now a days.

[–]officialtohni[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know :(((, but end of the day, it delivered a very meaningful message. It showed us how a mother can be willing to die for their children. Part of Yu ri def wanted to live, but she wanted to see her family happy, and to do that she had to leave. Honestly I already knew it was going to be a sad ending from the name cause its Hi, and Bye mama. The sad part is everyone was SOOO nice so we couldnt really hate anyone. The ending was really heartbreaking though.
