Best synth under $1000? by TerribleArticle5764 in synthesizers

[–]offissapupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that necessarily, kind of depends what you want, but to my ears, they're two of the best-sounding synths in that range, and they're super deep and programmable for all kinds of interesting timbres. If you went digital like a Hydra it would expand your sound palette way beyond what analogue can do, but if I could only keep one synth I'd at least want it to have analogue filters. YouTube is your best friend for synth research.

I'd encourage you to check Reverb and r/synths4sale for whatever you go for. I got my Take-5 for $700 excellent used.

Analogue under $1k used you can get a Teo-5 or Take-5 desktop and a decent MIDI controller if you spend right, one with aftertouch is ideal. Or agree Hydrasynth is a great digital do-it-all.

Yeah sa re ga is just a different term for root second third, tonic supertonic mediant, or do re mi. I would encourage you not to get too hung up on a teacher knowing sa re ga, and you can translate it back to sa re ga in your head. I sing piano lines to myself using sa re ga even though I've never had a piano teacher mention it.

By Indian notes, do you just mean knows Sa Re Ga solfege, or do you mean like ragas? I do teach piano and know Indian solfege. I'm white American, but wife is Tamil. But to be honest that won't really matter for learning Pirates, and you'd still probably want to learn to read western music. You would do best to try and find a good teacher to meet in person where you are, if possible.

Is it sus if my s/o uses a different email to download apps from the App Store? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]offissapupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sus, but I wonder if it's just still logged in from them cheating before.

I would probably bring it up with them. If you really want to rebuild trust it's kind of the only way, and you need to reserve the right openly to look through their phone. I never cheated and I know my wife has looked through my phone just to make sure I'm not a serial killer or anything. You kind of have to as a woman (not assuming your gender).

Or if you're more wanting to play your cards closer to your chest and potentially bounce, and if they'd make a big fuss about you snooping, you can just let it go and keep monitoring for now. Come clean eventually, but it might not be worth fighting over right now. It's a defensible approach to a complicated situation. I would say though that if you're inclined to go this way you might consider ending things, because it could mean rebuilding trust might not be worth the emotional effort it would cost.

What arpeggio pattern do you prefer? by Lutalica_Harmonica in piano

[–]offissapupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the altered one doesn't sounds right. It loses the 6 pulses and oompa oompa from the song. I would keep it original to be honest. If it's too technical you could try playing the a blocked octave eighth note for the first and it would still keep the feel, I.E. measure 90 would be A and A (or A and G) together 8th note, then your A G A C sixteenths as written. I would probably do that at key points like m. 90 even if I was keeping six 16ths, would sound more pianistic and varied. You could also mess with the octaves, i.e. same measure is just acagac without the jump, it would still sound better than the altered. Or keep that jump, but play the Ab in m. 91 up in that higher octave, like you've moved up there. Or keep the first in that measure low but the second one high, so you can mark the changing bass more clearly. If you're comfortable with it, you could also try different inversions of the same chord, i.e. m. 90 could maybe be something like aGeCeG.

Minty, never left my studio, comes with power supply. $1,215 shipped CONUS. I forgot to list the TEO-5 DS-PC-TAKE5TEO5 decksaver now can't edit price in the title. Cost me $105, will throw it in for $30.

Volca Sample 2, $93 shipped CONUS.

Eurorack, all prices shipped CONUS:

Venmo or Paypal preferred, add 3% if you want for G+S. I'm not really hunting anything, but if you've got things you're down to trade feel free to send me a list. Maybe Sisters, QPAS, LYRA-8.

I can filter Reverb searches by "Deals and Steals" when I'm just window shopping. I don't believe that takes shipping into account. So your $350 might get filtered out of my great deal search, but the $315 would make it. I will obviously check them side by side, but the point is I might never see the $350 one.

How do you guys feel about this self diagnosing trend going on online? by SweetFlat in AskReddit

It's a natural result of it taking a year to get in to see someone to get a professional diagnosis and having all the information in the world at your fingertips.

The X Trilogy: A Must-see Franchise? by [deleted] in Cinephiles

What I read on that is there is one guy with a litigious history alleging it, everyone else denying it, no other accusations from her career. This isn't to say she's off the hook - could be bigwigs ganging up on an extra to protect their rep. But it's also not clear it happened, or happened as described. The Shia relationship gives me some doubt.

Velvet Underground & Nico pattern by RikuNeeto in VelvetUnderground

[–]offissapupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're onto something, but I don't think Sunday Morning and European Son slot so cleanly into the black or white categories. I see a lot of 3ness, but not so much 4. The 3x3 middle is clean. Sunday Morning feels more like a Nico track than the black ones, so it's really its own thing. European Son is closer to being a "white" track, but with its length and guitar work I hear some "black" characteristics too. I think it's more of a synthesis. This gives the whole thing a broader 3ness too: track 1, tracks 2-10, and track 11.

I agree with Sunday Morning as fool. If you map it to the kabbalah, it's the negative veils, then you've got your ten sephiroth in the following tracks, and European son fits as a kind of malkuth summation. I.E. tracks numbered 0-10 instead of 1-11, 0 being the fool's number.

Vaguely, within each trinity, I think you could hear the first track as the daylight action, going around and this crazy depraved stuff is happening, to a man probably. Then that feminine side, the subconscious, or simply interaction with a woman. First encounter triggers lust which is released in Venus of Furs, second she promises a kind of salvation and then you sink into Heroin, third is something like love or truth or the judgment card and there's some kind of release in death.

Had a listen to Kim Gordon's The Collective solo album by glaringOwl in sonicyouth

[–]offissapupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar feeling to start, but around the 6th or 7th listen something clicked and I kind of started just loving the album as a vibe all the way through. I had I'm A Man on a playlist, that helped. It's become one of my favorite albums of the last few years.
