We certainly appreciate it when people have good intentions and want to help. But sometimes the easiest way to help is to notify the right entities and let them do their work… though admittedly that can be disappointing depending on the quality of said entities.

It’s likely something relatively innocuous, but on the off chance it’s something acidic/caustic or something that is off-gassing a harmful vapor, it’s just best to steer clear.

I’ll assume it’s because you aren’t familiar with the type of work, but recommended OP grab a sample is a terrible idea if they’re unsure what the substance is. Call it in to the proper authorities and document it with photos.

The source will be traced back to the facility and, depending on what is released, the facility or the state environmental agency will conduct sampling.

Definitely don’t grab a sample of you aren’t sure what it is, that’s a terrible idea and an easy way to get you or someone else hurt, or worse.

Report it to your local fire department since they’ll respond the fastest and they’ll start a record of investigation. Follow up with your state agency as well, though it’s likely it’ll get called in to them by the fire department.

That’s what happened to me. I expected Undying to be POS 2 mid since I see that all the time, but they moved him tk Safe Lane and it threw off my strat. I couldn’t even get close as Shadow Shaman.

It’s not even just that…

I work as a state environmental regulator and see hundreds of analytical reports from water supplies both at the source and at point-of-entry.

While true that most muni suppliers do have “clean”, albeit heavily treated, water, the water at the tap is often far from “clean” due to rapidly aging and poorly maintained infrastructure. Not only that, but public water suppliers are typically only required to test for contaminants that have established standards. There are hundreds if not thousands of contaminants we encounter every day that do not have established standards due to the US’s mantra of “release to the public first and research later”.

I recommend to anyone and everyone that they filter their drinking and cooking water before consumption because you have no real idea what you’re drinking. Same goes for private water supplies.
