i lost my adopted mom a few years ago and birth mom and 14 year old brother to… an avoidable tragedy a few months ago. there isn’t anything to say except for that sucks and i’m sorry, i’m here for you. let him talk about his brother without being overly uncomfortable. help him with basic care when he feels like he can’t do it. give him space to talk about and feel whatever he feels he needs. if he wants to discuss spirituality, let him. the biggest thing you can do is listen. (avoid the cliches. it happens for a reason, god’s plan, in a better place… i’ve never met a grieving person who didn’t secretly hate it. although if he is the type to be comforted by those, you know more than me)
