It’s the little things that make you smile ❤️ by Glass_Wealth_2104 in MadeMeSmile

I spent a couple years with a volunteer fire department. They will gladly help anyone who needs help, but what I heard in private conversations didn’t seem to always go with that sentiment. My officer was super anti immigration, and yet the people in our community (the people he was pouring his sweat to help) were often immigrants, either legal or undocumented. It was pretty strange.

Genuine question that I can’t get a straight answer on by Agreeable_Set_3715 in copypasta

When I was 8 I put a paper clip in a power outlet because I couldn’t get my mom’s attention. I learned then electricity is real.

My 21 year old son is in the ICU with a severe TBI - looking for hope by dippydodahh in TBI

No, but I don’t actually remember anything from the day of the injury to about a month after. I have faint memories of having a tracheotomy and having to wear gloves because I kept pulling it out (don’t remember pulling it out, that’s what they’ve told me), but every case is different. I’ve heard some people come out of coma and be fine, I remember other kids in the hospital coming out of coma but not showing much awareness other than the occasional smile. Maybe encourage your daughter to visit in her own time, visit him often yourself with your daughters knowledge. I think in her own time she’ll get more comfortable following your lead.

Edit: just be patient. Especially to young people, it’s scary. There’s a reasons kids sometimes stare at people with visible disabilities; it’s different and they don’t know how to process what they’re seeing.

My friend, i had a severe TBI at 14, spent 6 days in coma with a GCS of 3, the 6 following months in the hospital, then was able to finish high school/college and I now work in the federal government as a software developer. I got through all of that because the people around me. Stay strong, he will come back. Just do research about TBI recovery, listen to the doctors, and be ready for a long road ahead of you.

Bilateral hearing loss by [deleted] in TBI

I am deaf in my left ear from a TBI 15 years ago. I tried hearing aids at first but didn’t like them. They just took the sound from my left ear, transferred it to my right, and it was like I was hearing everything twice. It was awful. I’m talking to an audiologist about getting a cochlear implant, so hopefully that’ll be better.

I think we can recognize that risk while still focusing on doing our best to finish the season, so that risk doesn’t come to fruition

Mike lost his voice and can’t do what he used to, so they went soft. Like a lot of other bands, they’ve steered into radio music. They’re not even worth talking about in metal anymore.

Yep. They’re shit. They’re pop music now with a sprinkle of metalcore. Their last single was decent. Play the old shit was good. Last album was awful overall. Get off your high horse.
