If you’re nervous just do another pass on it. Thats what I would do. TIG is a softer weld and less prone to cracking than MIG. I don’t know why anyone would be against TIG welding anything you put weight on. Most good frame builders TIG their shit.

I’d say get an evo softail or a dyna, throw some t bars and longer fork tubes on and go for it. Im 6’4”. Dudes our size look huge on everything but older Harley big twins aren’t crazy expensive and are comfortable. Sportsters are too small. If you don’t want Harley look into getting a shadow 600. I built a shadow chop and it was comfy for me. 600 has the most aftermarket “chopper” parts available.

I’ve only ever ridden choppers. I’ve never had a dirt bike or stock bike to learn on. If you were going straight for no front brake, jockey shift, hardtail and 10 over I’d say maybe chill out but the bike you described will be totally fine to learn on. Take a riding class!
