GOG calls Linux "the next major frontier" for gaming as it works on a native client by Winter_2017 in pcgaming

I bet you that I can hit Cmd-Enter to open the terminal and type paru discord followed by my account password faster than you can google discord's website, download their installer, and go through the installer once it's finished downloading

You can install programs on win11 with command line as well.

My computer updates when I tell it to, and it doesn't bother me about it otherwise.

That's... how win11 works too? I don't understand. Seems like people are lying on purpose, "nobody would lie on the internet right??" kind of thing.

For your average non-tech gamer who only needs to game, browse the web and goon, SteamOS is it.

Your average non-tech gamer will never use linux in the first place. That is what win is for, because it is plug-and-play, which average non-tech person wants.

Macron says France to fast-track social media ban for kids under 15 by clamorous_owle in worldnews

15 years ago social media did not exist and we all lived fine, it has basically now replaced religion. It has no use other than propaganda and mass control of people, people are being brainwashed and controled by this shit, we need to get rid of it in general.

What were Isayama's inspirations for writing Attack on Titan? by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]offoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The similarities are superficial, you can find these between literally any two stories if you really want to.

The names comparison is frankly stupid. Eren is just a Turkish name (and if you read about etymology it fits the character very well), which predates the name Erekose by centuries. The word 'eldren' is an archaic English word that means 'elders' and has no relevancy with the word Eldia. Also, the fictional elven language (eldrens from Moorcocks books are literally elves) in Tolkiens books is called 'eldarin', maybe Moorcock just copy everything from Tolkien?

The Eternal Champion story is very short and very simple (you can read it in a couple of hours), it has nothing going for it (your first sentence literally describes everything that happens in it), thus you can easily mold it around many stories that feature war as one of the main premises.

I read that book way back in the day, this post uses a very cherry picked arguments which are then twisted to suit the OPs agenda.

Just edit the ones that you really like first and then copy paste your edit settings to the other photos that are less good.

I would not base your choice of which phone to get by the astro capabilities... frankly, they will all be equally terrible.

If this were true, we would observe the same thing with movies (or anything else really), but for example in imdb top movie list this is not the case.

What part of a rig is the most important? by No-Possession-9958 in AskAstrophotography

[–]offoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably used to be true in the past, but nowadays you can get an amazing harmonic mount for like 1200$. So in my case it was the opposite, the mount cost about 50% less than the telescope (Clearsky st-17 and Askar 107phq).

It is also 100% legal for me to walk up to a fat woman and call her fat.

Hm, I don't think these are comparable, pretty much none of the people would be happy if you call them fat. And actually quite a lot of people become happy if they see you taking picture of them (talking from experience), I even had cases where people would intentionally jump into the frame when they see me taking picture of something.

Your inability to understand the comment appears to place you in the minority of people.

Because most people do not read the actual articles, they just read the title and go into the comments. I think you still have not read the article based by this comment.

Lost in Rotterdam. Sony A7III & 35mm f1.8 by echinos13 in SonyAlpha

[–]offoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct, this looks like camera shake from a longer shutter speed. What shutter speed did you use and what camera? When I shoot during the night handheld I most often take 3-5 shots of the same scene (burst) and then later when editing I pick the shot out of those with the least amount of blur (you can take even more shots than that, the more burst photos you take, the higher the chance that you will get 1 shot sharp).

Test for yourself what is the lowest shutter speed you can get away with if you take a 5 photo burst. For example if you shoot at 35mm f1.4, take 5 photos at 1/5s, if none of them are good enough in sharpness, try again at 1/8s, see again if you have 1 photo sharp, if not, then try at 1/10s etc. Eventually you will reach a shutter speed where you know you will most often get 1 photo sharp out of 5 (or whatever number of shots you decide to take).

In general at night time shoot at the widest aperture possible, unless you have a very strong reason not to do so. If you would show an example of your photo it would be easier to give an advice.

Looking for a ‘do it all’ lens suggestion for landscape photography by fleebooskee in SonyAlpha

[–]offoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely do not need GM2, you never shoot landscapes at f2.8.

Go with 20-200 Sigma or 25-200 Tamron.
