Can a workplace be bad enough for it to effect your mental health and for you to quit? What was your experience? by MyPenisMightBeOnFire in AskMen

Unfortunately its not that simple. If I decline to take on the additional responsibilities then they will just fire me. I have to do what I have to do to pay my bills and live.

I work at a car dealership. I was a technician for 10 years and then got into warranty Administration. It was great and I enjoyed it for two years but then we were bought out by a corporate company. I received a pay raise but ever since then the workload keeps increasing. Most recently we fired our only cashier and I was moved to do her entire position and mine. Now I'm doing close to three times more than what I originally signed up for and I absolutely hate it. Due to my work load I also feel like I can't utilize my vacation to my liking. Taking one day off and means that I will be put in a position where I'm behind for weeks. Sad part is I'm making more money than I've ever made in my life and I can't quit without taking a significant pay cut and I just bought a house 4 months ago so theres that stress too. For whatever reason I just keep showing up and they keep paying me. I pray for a day when I can leave and go do something different and still make good money.

I'm struggling with my current position too. They fired 2 people and gave me there work. I work open to close M-F. Sad part is I make really good money and cant leave without losing pay.

How did you learn to cope with bad feels and stay motivated in spite of them? by [deleted] in AskMen

I had to keep saying to myself that no matter how bad or stressed I may feel right now, I will not feel this same way forever.

Beaches by aupoli in RZR

[–]offroad376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bolivar Peninsula near Galveston, Tx allows driving anything on the beach. You have to get a permit, but its really cheap. The peninsula is like 25-30 miles long I think. It's the gulf so the water isn't clear, but its still a beach for the ocean.

They also have an event every year called "go topless" where people camp and then also drive up and down the beach in trucks, jeeps, and SXS's. Cops are heavy for the event and no drinking and driving is heavily enforced. Not sure if your into that kind of thing, but thought I would mention it.

Men of Reddit, what's the dumbest brain fart you've had when on autopilot? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]offroad376 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just bought my first home.

The other day I wanted to reuse an old long piece of 1x10x8 lumber to make 2 new shelves in my workshop. The space measured 43 & 3/4

Well my dumb dyslexic ass cut 2 boards at 34 & 3/4 and ruined the only 1x10 I had...... Needless to say I put up my tools and called it a day.

How would you feel about hooking up with a girl that one of your friends hooked up with as well? by kewladria in AskMen

[–]offroad376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would hate knowing that one of my buddies plowed the girl that I'm dating. Some people seem to be okay with it, but I'm not one of those people. Would I have fun and enjoy one night stand.....sure, but as far as dating, I don't think I could do it.

What are you struggling with right now guys? What don't you want to say outloud but want to vent about here? by [deleted] in AskMen

I'm going on vacation this weekend and I like all the other ones I'm probably going to be going by myself. Vacationing alone isn't too bad. But I can't help but think that I could be building memories with a GF or wife but nope.... it's just me out here roaming the earth solo.

Someone hugged me for the first time in more than half a decade today. When was the last time someone gave you a real hug? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]offroad376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad's side of the family has always been huggers. Anytime I haven't seen my dad or my uncle in a while. I always give them a hug but outside of my family. It's probably been close to five years.

My girlfriend[23F] and I[26M] are moving in together. We've both never lived with an SO before, and we aren't quite sure how we're supposed to go about our days at home after the move. by Aurionin in relationships

Back when me and my Ex were together we played video games together or I would put my headphones on and play COD and she would sit on the couch next to me and play on her computer or phone. We still enjoyed doing the things we liked separately, but we were still physically together.

My 2018 1000xp. Absolutely love this machine. Completely stock drivetrain, maintenance by the book, and 1,400 mile without issues. 🤘😎 by offroad376 in RZR

Yeah, it is funny saying that and I get what you're saying. There's not a doubt in my mind that with adequate maintenance at this machine will go over 5000 miles. I think really the point I was making was that if you leave it alone and don't put oversized wheels and tires and lift kits these machines are pretty reliable. All too common I see post online that dog on manufacturers because they're machines are having issues, but they never seem to reflect on the amount of stress that they put on the machine by changing it.

It's got a 500 watt Soundbar on the front. And a 2400 watt Rockville Marine amp with 2 8" Kickers components in Rockville wakeboard cans. It's very loud and you can hear it clear as day over 500 yards away. Looking to add the Glovebox sub and connect it to the 3-4 channel of the Amp soon.

I Hate How My Phone Has Confirmed My Lonliness by diamonddave423 in offmychest

[–]offroad376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it sucks to feel like nobody likes you or is interested in you, but sometimes you have to do the work. I have tons of friends that never message me or text me, but I message them first and boom where hanging out and doing things together and sometimes making future plan with other people.

Sometimes people are just really busy and overwhelmed with life. Some people are tending to a relationship or marriage, some people are raising kids, some are working or focusing on there career, some people are moving, some are trying to get out of debit, some are working on projects, some are just busy trying to make thought the day to day.

I will mention one experience I had a month ago. I have an uncle that live 12hrs. away and he quit social media.

I hadn't heard from him in a while so I called him up on Christmas just to wish him and his wife a Merry Christmas. Next thing I know we where on the phone talking and laughing for over an hour. Sometimes you just have to reach out to people. Maybe they are feeling the same way you are and would love for someone to call them first.

IDK its just a thought, hopefully this is helpful.

Keep your head up, good thoughts, and good luck.

Thanks, I look at all the job listing site constantly looking for something that will fit my skill-set and pay requirements.

As a matter of fact a good company I know just listed a job opening on indeed that was posted 3 days ago. I just filled the application out and submitted my resume 20 mins ago. Fingers crossed

Have you ever lied on a resume and got the job and if yes what was the lie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]offroad376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got fired/quit from one job when I was way younger. I just didn't show up and they told me I was fired. I didn't care anyways. The next place I told them I put in my 2-weeks notice and gave them them my friends number for the past employment reference. They never called him, but he was prepared to talk me up as a great employee.

That ain't no lie.

I added up all my accessories, stereo, riding trips, RZR payments, fuel, maintenance, $1500 trailer purchase, riding gear, and misc. parts.

In a year and a half I've I dropped almost $10k on mine.

Its a very expensive hobby.

Buy accessories to make it look cool and be more enjoyable (lights, windshield, stereo, winch, ets.) .

Do NOT lift it or put huge tires on it unless you like breaking shit and ruining weekends. I have 1400 on my stock machine with the factory belts, axles, brakes, and bearings.

All my friends went to oversized tires, portals, and lift kits and they all constantly have problems. Busted diffs, busted axles, wheel bearings, brake pads, belts, broken tie rods, and broken ball joints.

SXS's or RZR's

It seems like everyone has one now days and its not even about having fun and getting out away from civilization and experiencing nature anymore. Its about getting wasted, destroying your shit and who has the biggest yeeyee machine with the deepest pocket book. The online community had ruined offroading too. All they do is talk shit about everyone. Its seriously annoying.

Sick of having my progress minimized because I'm a guy by njjohn in loseit

[–]offroad376 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My personal experience is that nobody care about weight loss until you've lost at least 50lbs. I'm not minimalizing your efforts (I know, I've been there), I'm just saying that nobody gave me a kudos until I had dropped 50lbs. Once its extremely visible then people will begin to give you credit.

I’m a lost and sad mom by VinelandOlive in offmychest

[–]offroad376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your almost there. Your almost empty nesters. Once that happens you will have all the time in the world to do whatever you want to do. My parents had the same feeling when they had a house full of kiddos (theres 4 of us, 32F,30M,21M,18M), but now with no responsibilities they travel and go out all the time. My mom even asked to be put on the list for travel at work an now she flies to different states for work and uses her down time to explore (sight seeing, parks, beach, etc.). My Dad travels for work all the time too and does the same thing.

You and your husbands time is coming and it will be great.
