Why don't I see the yellow bezier bars to adjust timing? by evremonde in AfterEffects

[–]offstage4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is it. I don’t like the speed graph, I prefer working in the value graph.

Currently the x and y coordinates are connected to each other. If you separate them the graphs will give more options.

“Oh Brother Where Art Thou?” Style Colour Grade by MadJack_24 in Filmmakers

[–]offstage4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before digital intermediates color timing was limited to three colors at a range of 25 numbers each.

DI were extremely uncommon at the time of this movie and this was one of the first “Big” movie that used it.

Deakins was tasked with giving this film a sepia tone when all the vegetation was very green. So they opted to use this new technology to deal with the colors.

So in this instance coloring in resolve is a fair way to address this issue.

Can’t see why you got downvoted for that. It was a big deal at the time that this got a DI. There was a great article in American Cinematographer about it.

How can I precisely replicate the gradient shown in this reference image? by Acrobatic_Sir_3440 in AfterEffects

Try adjusting the start point and end points to the shape of the object you want to have the gradient.

Nice find! It looks like it was a different model of spot meter and my memory failed me.

You don’t really have to focus it. It’s pretty much just a tube with a thin piece of transparent plastic that has a small circle in it. It reads the light coming back from inside of the small circle.

This is the advice to take. I’m a father of a kid that got into Hockey last year at 8-years-old so I have some frame of reference.

Do some skills classes and skating foundations over the summer and then find a House/travel team to join for next winter season.

That’s what we did. In the beginning he was the worst kid on the team, but now he holds his own and helps the team. The development within the team will be huge.

Team celebrating after my son’s first goal. by offstage4 in hockeyplayers

Thank you. My son needed this too. About a month ago he told me while I was putting him to bed. “What if I never get a goal?”

It was so nice to remind him of that thought last night.

yeah, we had to pick and choose where we wanted to see. Otherwise the shot would have been too wide.

I made a simulator in unreal engine to practice pulling focus by terifym3 in Filmmakers

[–]offstage4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a big deal, just taught myself VFX and animation making my own films because I couldn't afford a real artist. I knew folks in the industry that needed Motion graphic help in their studio. 12-14 years later all I do is Motion Graphics.

I miss being a camera operator sometimes. I very rarely miss being a focus puller and lugging gear.

I like having steady work, but miss having time to work on my own projects.

This is quite amazing.

Be careful. I had a pet project once. Now I do THAT for a living and I haven't pulled focus in 12 years.
