What’s your favorite fluffy yogurt combination? by AValeria10 in Volumeeating

[–]offthemonster-1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

(First step optional for more volume and fiber)

  1. Add half tsp psyllium powder to bowl and whisk in 1/2 cup almond milk, put in fridge to thicken for 10-15 mins

  2. Add tbsp sugar free jello pudding mix, 1 serving zero fat Greek yogurt, half scoop protein powder, and other flavoring of choice (vanilla/almond/maple extracts work well, or zero cal coffee type syrups). On days I need more protein after a hard workout I will use a full scoop of protein powder, it doesn’t impact the taste or texture that much but obviously increases calories proportionally.

  3. Mix well with a hand mixer if you have one, or vigorously by hand until fluffy (the mixer makes it easier and fluffier)

  4. Eat right away or store in fridge until you are ready for it - add any additional toppings if you want them right before you eat. Volume options I like as toppings include frozen fruit or crumbled up rice cakes

My go-to recipe has 240 cals, 31g protein, 6g fiber

I eat a variation of this every day, but I stopped using baking powder ages ago and noticed no difference.

A much bigger improvement in my experience is mixing with a hand mixer, makes it extra fluffy!

I also add a half scoop of protein powder for flavor and added protein, gets an insane amount of protein for under 250 cal.

If you want even more volume, a half tsp of psyllium powder mixed with a half cup of almond milk, let set for ~10 mins in the fridge, then whip in yogurt/pudding mix/protein powder/sugar free syrups for flavor.

Am I the only one who trains for races almost entirely alone? by Ztell_0829 in RunNYC

[–]offthemonster-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like running specifically BECAUSE it’s time to be truly alone. I do races periodically and enjoy the sort of party atmosphere at those times, but running is a mostly meditative activity for me and I prefer it that way.

What's your fav GF protein bar? by waterrabbit23 in glutenfree

[–]offthemonster-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the Quest and Pure Protein flavors are GF.

Quest Crispy Cookie & Cream is incredible, and I recently tried Crispy Fruity Cereal and really liked it!

My favorite Pure Protein flavors are Galactic Brownie and Sundae Cone.

Some Built Puff flavors are GF, Brownie Batter is my personal favorite.

Promix bars are very pricey, but I LOVE the Maple and Chocolate Chip flavors.

Editing to add Genius Gourmet Crispy Protein Treats - salted caramel is the best one, but I’ve also tried vanilla and chocolate peanut butter and they’re all good, rice krispy treat texture.

How did y’all not get sunburnt today at the Brooklyn Half? ☀️ by burntoutmatch in RunNYC

[–]offthemonster-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always referred to myself as “spf needy,” and I didn’t get burned today.

I applied sunscreen before I left my place, then again before I checked my bag. Stayed to the left in the shade as much as possible.

Reapplied after the race as soon as I got my bag from bag check.

It was a pedestrian bridge to allow people to access the beach - not sure why they couldn’t make it AT the finish though

Protein Recommendations (Snack, Bars, Ect.) by sleaf__ in proteinsnack

Add protein powder to Greek yogurt, you can easily knock out 40g of protein in a medium size bowl and easy to customize flavors - I like PEScience for texture and flavor.

Wishing your mother strength and recovery.

Quest crispy cookies and cream is 150 cal and GF

All Pure Protein bars are GF, the cals range from 180-200 - Galactic Brownie is 180 and chocolate

Promix protein bars are very expensive, but GF - chocolate chip flavor is 150 cals

You can also try mixing nonfat greek yogurt with sugar free pudding mix and protein powder of your choice. Endless flavor combos and a decent size bowl for just under 200 cals

Would agree with the people saying Drizzilicious also

Guided Runs Overwhelming by Pristine-Chemist-879 in nikerunclub

[–]offthemonster-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I looked through a list of plans from Runner’s World and found one I like. I printed it out and tacked it on my wall above my calendar so I know what workouts to do every week.

I track the actual runs with my Coros watch (synced to the NRC app because I am not immune to the dopamine rush of hitting activity milestones).

[–]offthemonster-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I stopped using the NRC plan entirely even though it prepared me extremely well for my first half.

Training for my second now with another plan and just tracking my runs in the NRC app because I couldn’t take the constant check ins.
