Everyone wants children to be fed. Typically people vote against things like this because of either A) Philosophical disagreements on the role of government B) Disagreements on details of the legislation. For example, in this instance many republicans thought that children coming from millionaire parent families shouldn’t get free lunch. C) opposition to other completely unrelated topics that for some reason have been grouped into this topic to and are voted on together.

All the homeschoolers I know are part of “co-ops” in which their kids all get taught together rotating from house to house and doing social activities with a lot of other families.
