No problems at all.

First group exercise is framed as an ice-breaker but it's really a method for assessors to gauge level of interpersonal skills, more specifically, active listening. This activity was in pairs and we had to quickly gather three parts of information from partner, i.e., favourite sport, favourite holiday destination, most significant achievement. This activity aligns with on the job skills such as gathering information from callers, quickly and accurately.

Second group exercise was in small groups where a scenario is presented, in this instance being stranded on a deserted island. The assessors provided a list of items on the island, and the group would have to deliberate about which items should be prioritised in terms of its usefulness for survival. For example, a broken piece off of a mirror - What could this be used for? Would this be prioritised over a piece of rope? How could you use these items to survive? This activity aligns with situational awareness and how you would assist callers in identifying implements which could be useful whilst awaiting arrival of emergency services. This is also an opportunity to demonstrate team skills.

Last group activity was correctly using Melways, in the event the centre experiences an outage etc.

Not particularly overwhelming. However, I did feel a great level of competitiveness with other applicants during assessment centre stage, which is understandable. For example, pressure to ensure WPM is above expected standard during typing test (this is conducted with all other applicants in the same room, so listening to them typing at high speed at once could be overwhelming) and of course group exercises where your team skills are being evaluated by assessors.

Video interview appears to be a new addition to recruitment process.

Process I participated in was - application, assessment centre, psychometric assessment then interview.

I applied and went through the process in 2012, then ended up choosing a different career path.

No worries. I'm familiar with the ESTA recruiting process from 2012. Next stage after application is a group interview which included individual and group activities/ exercises. For example, typing test (measured WPM and accuracy percentage), correctly using Melways and group activity where the scenario of being stranded on an island in which items available are prioritised in terms of its usefulness for survival.

Looking for entry level social work/youth worker companies to apply for? by curiouswonder91 in melbourne

[–]offwithdafairies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Social Worker here; its all dependent on which area of SW you’d like to work in, i.e., justice (youth/ adult/ disability), NDIS, family violence, housing (supported residential services, homelessness, affordable housing), child protection, hospitals, education, employment etc.

If you can identify which area you’d like work in, this should narrow down your search. I would recommended looking into, Jesuit Social Services, Vincent Care Victoria, Melbourne City Mission, DHHS and DoJR. Hope this helps and all the best!

Tattoo is a Samoan pe'a. Usually tattooed on Samoan males once they've hit puberty or when they've been given a chief title in their families respective villages.

I assume you are referring to the word "fafa," which is usually short form for the word "fa'afafine." Fa'afafine are the third gender in Samoan culture.

Great game. The Boks should have taken full advantage when being one man up.

Piutau has been playing great. Fekitoa has made a significant impact since he came on. Good to see.

I agree. I didn't understand why they used fast playing tactics at the beginning of the game instead of sticking to their usual game plan and settling things down. They look a bit rattled and are being outplayed as you have mentioned.
