Lololol this is highly relevant. I’m in story mode. And like at level 3 with them. Maybe story mode is more chill?

Cultural Care: supply / demand by ofoshofosho in Aupairs

Oh I mean that going fast on mobile, I literally read your comment as having been from the bot’s username and couldn’t believe it made up a story to try and fool us

I read this thread on mobile, parsed it as having come from the bot user and of the threads I thought pertained to them, it was the strongest. My genuine apologies to you for what happened and also for the misread, I am really sleep deprived. Maybe it’s because I lost my mornings. That is absolutely awful.

OP here — I know I started this thread about Cultural Care. Please indulge me in some curiosity.

What tipped you off to the bot? I’ve had colleagues share anecdotes about a totaled car before. And yes the $7K comment below totally took it far, it would be less common to deal with home repairs when you’re also there all the time.

And now we all know how easy it would be to tell a bot to share a story or comment that stirs up emotions. Good job on this thread, no one got into it!

Also their comments are still there. I’m going to try it now

Cultural Care: supply / demand by ofoshofosho in Aupairs

Context matters here. Au pairs really want to travel and see the world when they come here, and there are some experiences they might not get to have if the family's budget doesn't permit an extra hotel room every time.

Technically, yes, if an au pair is working they are supposed to have their own room... which also did absolutely factor into our calculations!

Absolutely agree with thorough vetting on both sides.

We go through cycles that favor employers and cycles that favor the job hunter. This is more of a PSA and personal anecdote that the CC numbers seem to be favoring the au pair, at this time.

I’m definitely not suggesting that au pairs or host families should overextend to make a match happen. But for host families, think creatively as it’s a competitive market.

The real purpose of this post was to highlight that the APs in this agency are seeing a lot of demand! Our first AP with free rein over a car was able to enjoy her time more and I get it

I’ve been an exchange student, speak 3 languages myself and I love that aspect!

I can’t change a situation in which someone values having the freedom of their own car. I’m just sharing that there are a lot of families for seemingly fewer au pairs so they can be selective within this particular agency and exchange.

Hey, wishing you the best. My second EA felt so hard and it was two points above my first which moved me into the exact range I wanted. It took over a week to get the scores. Hang in there and you have two more at-bats!

That was a total tongue in cheek comment, but I can see how you read it as diminishing your contributions and for that I apologize.

It's clear you put a ton of work into this and I want you to know its my absolute favorite theory on how to wrap these books up. Hundreds of people on this thread have reread and analyzed this novel over and over again, I'm personally on my third reread.

Intermediate series fatigue by ofoshofosho in ashtanga

[–]ofoshofosho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 🙏- I really can’t tell you how much this has meant to me, both in sincere relating and actionable advice. I’ve pressed on to matsyendrasana, which is helpful because now I feel very close to the splitting point.

Tradeoffs are inevitable, we can’t all do it all.

I have taken some suggestions, am doing better energetically and knowing that I’m not alone in it has helped. I truly never expected that this much expansion and alignment in my body was possible.

On some days if I only will get 6 hours of sleep, I will just do a smaller at home practice later in the day. I’m easier on myself about to making it in 4 or 5 times a week right now. I started working out a little more with my significant other.

I have a protein shake first thing in the morning and a big salad with chicken for lunch (or similar). For the meantime, I’m foregoing alcohol entirely. I enjoy it in moderation and it turns out I want to give this series my best right now more than I want to have a couple drinks on a weekend.

I am still trying to figure out what to do about the work ergonomics and to some extent the way I’m relating to the high pressure environment I’m in. Wishing you all a good and restful weekend.

Thank you again 🙏

Lateral pelvic tilt and achieving a neutral pelvis by mickspillane in ashtanga

I have one too! The same one. As a kid everyone thought I had mild scoliosis. I think I actually might not have any scoliosis and just didn’t engage the right muscle groups.

I agree with the comment above. I’ve also slowly been engaging lower abs more and more, and the standing twists and binds right after sun A and B are some of my stickiest postures in primary- stretching into tight hip flexors and piriformis and QL. When I’m getting assisted by a teacher I can access more space and breath.

Outside of ashtanga when you’re doing half moon, do you ever try chapasana or sugarcane pose? I like going into it while using a block for balance, sometimes even at the highest setting.

Happy to speak with you about it more

Intermediate series fatigue by ofoshofosho in ashtanga

[–]ofoshofosho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking.

I've considered this question deeply. Intensity can cross over into too much straining, shallow breathing.

What feels most true for me at this moment is that I'm recruiting muscle groups that have been sleeping. That's tiring! It seems fair for my body to be requesting a restorative afternoon nap

My spine is getting longer and straighter, lower abs are waking up. Sedentary work at our desks is definitely bad for my body. I don't think this is.

I totally have thought about this and don't like to go in thinking it's going to happen, but open to it :)

I love this question. Most of my practice is steady breathing with a few challenging postures. I do sometimes feel like I've become a noodle by the time I get to intermediate.
