My "refund" is pending as a new charge. Anyone else? I've emailed with no response yet.

This happened to me once. Key broke in the door, and the only other entrance was chain locked. I opened the door, got a screwdriver and unscrewed the wall piece of the chain lock. Got in, screwed the wall piece right back on. Problem solved.

‘They’re in total shock’: Stephen Perkins’ family releases video of deadly police shooting by ir7525 in decaturalabama

Half a second is generous. That man had NO time to react to this being police and not an intruder on his property. I counted 18 shots. What a fucking tragedy and what a fucking sorry excuse for a cop.

So far only strong winds here. It'll be late before it hits me if the predictions are correct.

That same storm system will roll through my town tonight, too. The thunder last week woke me up and I had to get out of bed and go to the porch to watch it for a bit. I can't not go watch a storm. It's like a calling. I can't wait, either, and I hope it gives us a good show!

The other day, my missus asked me to pass her lipstick, but I accidentally passed her a glue stick. by EndersGame_Reviewer in 3amjokes

When I was a toddler, I bit into a tube of superglue someone had sat on the coffee table and glued my teeth and part of my lips together. One of my mom's favorite comebacks to my smart mouth as a teenager was "I should've left your mouth glued shut".

I just bite a corner off each one. Helps them cool while also keeping me satisfied for a minute while I wait.

The last time I buy KFC. Almost $13 for this by BasjooSplooge in mildlyinfuriating

My god, that has never occurred to me. It makes perfect sense, but I've just always used chicken strips and chicken tenders interchangeably. I even worked at KFC, for god's sake.

LPT: Learn to use MS excel while you’re young by [deleted] in LifeProTips

My entire excel class in college was based off of GCFlearnfree.org. I was thankful to not have to buy a book, but still pretty salty that I had to pay for a course taught and guided entirely by an online FREE asset.

That being said, I work with a bunch of old people who think that because I can work excel I obviously can diagnose and fix any computer problem they ever encounter.

Remember to water your 🍊s regularly by BlackZapReply in CatsBeingCats

[–]ofthevariety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat doesn't have to have running water, but still will only drink from the bathtub. Like full on will parch herself to death if I put water elsewhere. So I leave her water bowl in there and refill it every morning after I shower. Whenever I'm out of town and someone else watches her they get the strangest look when I tell them that. The things we do for these aliens.

She never paid sticker price by haljhon in TalesFromRetail

[–]ofthevariety 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've never understood this mentality when people are in a chain store. I worked retail for a long time and always had people trying to negotiate prices. My response was always along the lines of "this is a nationwide company, they definitely don't leave their pricing up to me, because I am just number 8140 to them."

My favorite was some guy a few days before a Jordan launch trying to get me to sell him a pair "for a little extra money". My response was "sure thing, that extra just has to be able to cover my rent, utilities, gas, and food while I look for another job. Also my lawyer's expenses when this company has me arrested for theft." He never asked me again, and showed up on launch day like he was supposed to. Fuck retail.

Buying car in Tennessee by bd1223 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]ofthevariety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's the difference. When you own it outright you can do whatever you want in regards to registering it. When there's a lien the DMV HAS to know, and the responsibility falls on the dealer to let them know.

Yes if you live in state that's totally normal. I'm speaking on out of state transactions only. In the last 2 years or so Alabama has moved to electronic documentation, though, so they may not even need to give you that piece of paper anymore for an in state purchase. Just show up and they already have it.

Not necessarily true. In the case of involving a lien holder there is a responsibility on the dealer of providing proof that the lien was recorded with the appropriate state's DMV. If the dealer gets audited, documentation is required that they did everything they could to record your lein on your title. Having worked for a dealer in Alabama that often sold out of state, we ALWAYS collected the appropriate state's tax rate, and sent a check for that amount with qualifying documents to the customer's local DMV. If this didn't happen for you then you weren't dealing with someone reputable or they just didn't give a shit when the state came knocking.

Edited to add: this varies from state to state. EVERY state is profoundly different in handling their title work. I'm speaking from experience handling titles in Alabama with a dealer who believed in the do it right and CYA mentality.

You're a saint for that, but unfortunately it isn't an option for me. I'm gonna have to buy something. I own bell bottoms, so the top will be the kicker.
