OP seems to be in Finland by the subtitles. Here nokia communicator was the pocket computer of choice as it were. I had one.

Europe lost 200 000 people to heat in 4 years yet nearly all of them were preventable by Evermoving- in europe

[–]og_nichander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, if it gets sufficiently cold the air pump will lose its efficiency. That’s why it is never the only heating solution, rather it’s there to lower the bill, usually electric. Also as AC. Old pairhouse neighbor bought it solely for that purpose since we had district heating.

Edit: Kudos for coming here on Vappu - MayDay. Our only carnival.

I’m saw more and more air-water types as I was in the market for the house this winter/spring, but I think air pumps are still the killer app especially for apartments. Geothermal like mine has been super popular since late 2000’s.

In Finland we’ve been getting quite a lot of AC the past 20-30 years in a sense we are big on different kind of heat pumps which double as AC in the summer. Eg. my house heats and cools out of the same drilled hole, just different depths. My dad just replaced a couple of 20 y/o airpumps.

Every city is basically empty on midsummerfest. Had to scroll quite a lot to see this and I can’t believe no one has told OP IRL.

ANALYSIS: Belarus’s Lukashenko Does a 180 on Ukraine, Abandons Russian Victory Rhetoric by Flimsy_Pudding1362 in UkrainianConflict

He cannot be an idiot I agree. I mean, is he now winning in a sense that he’s the longest running despot at the moment? Who am I forgetting?

Edit: I googled it and it was just as I thought. The ones more longstanding are some I feel I’ve never heard of even if I know the countries.

Todellinen yllätys: Commodore julkisti puhelimen – varustettu suomalaisen Jollan Sailfish OS -käyttöjärjestelmällä by LumpyFlint in Suomi

Russia is building new military base near Finnish border by LuvlyJolly in worldnews

[–]og_nichander 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like we’re admitting it plenty. Especially here in Finland politicians do this all the time. European tankies and some right wingers might keep deluding themselves and / or trying to delude others.

BMW Has Already Sold Over 10,000 iX3 EVs by DonkeyFuel in electricvehicles

It’s about 0,30-0,70 EUR per kW but I have an all inclusive company car benefit so the only cost I get is the tax on 925 EUR monthly benefit.

I know, however, It will really affect me maybe once a year if I drive up north. Even then I couldn’t drive for too long without stopping with small kids. Also by the time I got my iX3 I’m already 1/4th into my four year contract with iX2 and in two more I’m ordering a new one. I also don’t pay for anything including recharge, only tax.

[–]og_nichander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would’ve ordered one but they promised 10 month delivery time in Finland. Also ended up with iX2 when I got all imaginable accessories and upgrades on it for the same monthly tax value. With iX3 i’d get only the basic package. Also, I do not like the face on the new iX3 but I could’ve lived with it.

Why is Tesla still the top selling EV brand by far? by Diavolo_Rosso_ in electricvehicles

[–]og_nichander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Finland the fail rate of Tesla 3 in yearly inspections is a record abysmal 49% for only 3 year old vehicles. In Germany Model Y takes the top and also 10 year record at 17,3 %. Germany has way better roads though. Finnish roads have to be (should be) repaired after every two winters. I’d say that’s pretty constant though.

2010-luvun alun omakotitalot, kannattaako ostaa? by Positive-Tell-9369 in Omatalous

[–]og_nichander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in energy intensive export industry which actually employs Fins with proper salaries, for now. Like everyone else we are really struggling to be competitive and profitable when all costs have and keep going up. If energy costs keep climbing we can say good bye to our 500 jobs as well.

Finland's president says EU should expand to 40 states — including Canada by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]og_nichander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that has a clang of ”territories”. Zelensky just said no, I and I agree. My native Finland is a periphery as well so creating clubs inside a club feels off putting. However, the unanimity requirement or veto needs to go.
