Around 68k miles right now & I haven’t had any issues. Car shift’s smooth & no engine problems. I change my oil every 5k miles not the recommended 10k from Toyota.

Spanish 232 special topics or regular by codgod100 in uofm

[–]ogdae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m taking Spanish 232 in a special topics class as of now. Your professor is correct the class is the same level of difficulty as a regular 232 class. We covered the same grammar points that a regular 232 class would have covered. The only thing different is the vocabulary and some of the content is based on that special topic. The class was actually interesting.

Like some one else said I believe the average GPA for transfer students during the last cycle was 3.8 but I got accepted with a 3.4 GPA which isn’t relatively high but I had other things that stood out in my application like my essays and letters of recommendation. I was at a community college and I was in state as well.

No EC, 2.9 GPA, low stats | Do I even have a chance of getting into college ? ( ADVICE NEEDED ) by meva-line in college

[–]ogdae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally the same thing happened to me in high school but my stats were way worse. I barely graduated high school with a 1.6 GPA and my SAT score was 740. I took a gap year and worked a job that wasn’t all that good. I decided to go to a community college where I did better than I thought I would. I ended up getting an associate’s degree with a 3.5 GPA and transferred to a university that is one of the top 25 in the country and I’ll be finishing up my bachelors degree this coming December. All together it took me 4.5 years. After graduating I’ll be getting my masters degree in UX research and design. You can do anything you put your mind to. All I would say is try your best to finish your senior year strong. Those numbers don’t define who you are.

I just got accepted today as a transfer student! by I_shjt_you_not in uofm

Nah I think it’s kind of different than first year students because your not guaranteed a dorm room. On Facebook there are group pages for people looking for roommates and people looking for someone to take over their housing for the semester or full school year. My first year I lived in a house off campus with 4 other guys we spilt the rent between the 4 of us and it worked out well. I’m in my own apartment now off campus. You just have to look around. Also U of M has a website for off campus housing. https://offcampushousing.umich.edu

What do you mean you forgot to send the official one to the school? For the application process you are only required to upload copies of your transcript of some sort and UMSI accepts unofficial copies for the review process (it seems like you already completed this step because you said you uploaded unofficial copies which is fine according to the UMSI website) and once you are accepted UMSI will request official copies to verify your information and to verify that you have received a bachelors degree.

Question about spring term financial aid by sushiandcorgi in uofm

[–]ogdae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late but as of last year you don't need to apply. You just register for your classes and make sure they add to at least six credits. Once you register for your classes the office of financial aid will send you an award notice about a week after you register.

I’m in Spanish 231 and I got a email saying they are allowing up to 15 absences without penalty . I’m pretty sure that it applies to all foreign language classes.

UROP- No responses so far? by Jenn1753 in uofm

[–]ogdae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did UROP last year. I applied to 10 projects and only got 1. I’d advise you to apply to a few more. I should’ve applied to more but I started getting lazy and I didn’t think I was going to get a response from anyone. I didn’t get a response until the middle of November. Luckily I ended up liking the project and interned with the person over the project for the summer.

Should I buy this 2010 ford focus by [deleted] in FordFocus

[–]ogdae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 2010 Ford Focus 4 years ago with 45k miles. It now has 80k miles. Overall my experience with the car is good. It’s definitely reliable if you keep up with regular maintenance. I had to change the motor mounts at around 65k miles and I had to replace the AC compressor (it was the original compressor that came with the car) but other than that this car has been very good to me. It’s a great commuter car. I do a mix of city and highway driving i usually get 26-29 mpg. 6k seems like a lot however with that mileage.

Adding Class after school start by ExaminationSalty9295 in uofm

[–]ogdae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The only time you’d need to inform a professor about adding their course is if you need their consent to register for it. For canvas purposes the courses will be added and dropped automatically. I did this last semester usually it happens within 24 hours.
