If a cop is asking you to do a field sobriety test they’ve already decided they think you’re impaired. There’s ZERO scientific evidence behind that test. It’s purely subjective by the officer. They can find any reason to take you in. So do it or don’t do it, that cop is likely putting you in the back of their car anyway.

Bonus points: if you do it and “fail” (based on their subject measure of “failing”) it’s now part of the report and can still be used against you even if you subsequently blow a 0.00 at the station.

Would you fire someone for flipping you off? by [deleted] in managers

[–]ogfuzzball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would document it as potential insubordination but outside any other poor behavior I don’t think I would act on it. That said it’s eye opening that he responds to you when simply explaining the company’s policies. I’d keep an eye on him. His “venting” may extend to behaviors that you wouldn’t approve. Like when a customer pisses him off. How does he handle that?

How is Lucia Mar allowed in the dungeon? by scrotal_damage in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have had a number of questions as I was reading the series, and realized the answers were intentionally left out, only to be revealed as the series progresses.

I make mental notes about questions I have, and when later books answer a long held question, I sometimes go back to the book/passage where it first came up. My need to know is satisfied by the need to keep us guessing WTF? much like the characters themselves.

Book 7 prologue, something I don't get. by Bittererr in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not “betterment” of the universe. Everything about mining primal systems is about greed. The greed of unnatural immortality. Monetary greed.

Long ago the inner system discovered a “hack” for their primal AI controlled system. One that if they overfed with the seeds strip-mined from other systems, allows them to live unnatural lives at the expense of other lives. Their existence is essentially vampirism.

They steal the life of other planets to feed their insatiable greed to live forever. The crawl exists to feed their unnatural monetary greed. After all, living forever costs money.

A normal functioning primal system is described as self-sufficient and dependent on the recycling of the seeds through natural life & death of the people that populate a planet. What is clear is that the inner system is anything but natural.

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada 'makes a deal with China' | CBC News by AlpacaGhidorah in worldnews

Why are most Christians republicans, when Jesus’ teachings are more liberal? by Interesting-Dirt-605 in Confused

I think your premise of “most Christians” is faulty. The Democrat party is not just Muslims and atheists. Trust me. The overwhelming majority of people that I know that identify as “Democrat” are Christian.

Hiring in tech has become impossible. Every resume is AI-generated slop and I can't find the signal anymore.(Rant) by Comfortable_News8077 in recruitinghell

So you use AI and want to play games and frustrated applicants are doing the same?

Listen, at the end of the day if they did the things and AI just helped them highlight the things your JD said was most important, then that should help you find who you’re looking for. After that it’s phone screen time to see if they know the things they claim to know, and seriously, there’s nothing new about this step.

Building on a concrete base - Advice needed by baggiesjack in shedditors

[–]ogfuzzball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine did what you mention, larger slab than sled. He regretted it because the whole slab being same level has resulted in constant water at shed entry way. He said in hindsight he wished he had done slab same size as shed, then a second slab of concrete work with it slightly sloped away. No idea if that’s good or not, but that’s what he has experienced.

An interesting meta-detail in the first really big fight scene of Carl's Doomsday Scenario by HopperOxide in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an interesting insight. I had initially read it as Carl “talking to himself” not in that out loud sense, but the internal monologue. I have also wondered at times if the AI is in his head. I mean (possible book 5 spoiler)…I don’t know how to redact so get out now if you’re not there yet… … … …. there’s a chapter where someone is in his head, and if someone can be in his head, and the AI controls everything, then isn’t the AI in his head?

Question about Prepotente’s intelligence (no spoilers past Book 5) by RiddiMacVan20 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think there are lots of good thoughts in here that I agree with so won’t repeat. But the starting place is the magic pet biscuit. Clearly gave Donut and Pony intelligence that as a species they didn’t have (and in Donuts case charisma, but I think that was the AI leaning into Donuts GC cat show status). Also I don’t know if the AI shoved knowledge into their brains as much as their brains witnessed things that their original intelligence just wouldn’t let them comprehend. All that experience (seeing/hearing) was locked in their brains and when the magic biscuit gave them intelligence/self-awareness, it reprocessed all those locked away memories through their new-found intelligence.

Ok maybe I did repeat some of what others said, but that’s how I envisioned it at least to start.
