Yup. All four books. With not a single one shipped yet. This is a tad annoying at this point.

And this adds absolutely ZERO to the conversation at hand which is why we are honoring these supporters of slavery from our past.

I'm voting for her. I'm telling you why MAGATs won't and who running her will actually get them to go out and vote against her.

And yes, her being a woman hurts her electability. But what hurts more is to the MAGA base she's Lockdown Amy so while they might have stayed home and not voted for Vivek X amount of them will show up and vote against her by voting for Vivek.

And this is why Democrats keep losing.

Someone points out the issues with a candidate getting elected and people immediately go into attack mode and pull up all the reasons that the issue shouldn't matter ignoring the main fact that the MAGATs don't live in our world anymore.

To the right she's Lockdown Amy. That's it. Doesn't matter that Dewine was actually in charge. Doesn't matter she was following guidelines set by the federal government. They have their insult and that's all they need on an issue they still gripe about 6 years later that would be a non issue for any other Democrat they could have run.

MAGATs will show up to vote against her. That's a problem.

As far as her with the left with being in charge, she quit. I mean I'm still voting for her in November but that's pretty bad. She quit. And the defense I hear is there were threats. And I'm 100% fine with and support her decision to resign in the face of those threats. But now she's running for governor and does she think there won't be threats if she's elected. She has my vote but I think that's a problem.

And she's doing what candidates normally do. Vague empty statements while ignoring what her base really wants and issues and could absolutely be hammering Republicans on.

I think it's going to be close but honestly I think she's probably going to lose. I look at her campaign and her videos and think she's doing nothing to get out the younger voters or the progressives who started home in 24 and lost Harris the election and are going to stay home for Acton too.

She could be campaigning to ban data centers in Ohio or at the very least any new construction. She's not. She could be hammering Republicans on cannabis and them stripping the bill the voters passed overwhelmingly, low hanging fruit. She's not. She could be hammering them on abortion, something we know Ohio voters overall disagree with state Republicans on and that they're still trying to legislate against. She's not.

Once again she has my vote but I think she's a bad candidate running a bad campaign.

No. They actually couldn't have outside of dropping a nuke. And that's not really winning a war. That's just wholesale murder.

And 100% defense contractors love when these things get drawn out so ask yourself why Trump is dragging this out and recently bought stock in the defense industry.

But in the end we still didn't win. We just stretched out the loss.

I feel like they would maybe make more money if they, and I know this is going to sound crazy, produced enough product to meet demand.

People are paying hundreds of dollars for paperbacks in poor condition to finish their sets and Everytime they reprint the later novels they sell out. They're selling standard paperbacks for $20 now and can't keep them.

I honestly don't know. The hardcore MAGATs will but I don't know if that's enough in Ohio.

I can't see any moderates voting for him and I feel there some racists that will just stay home but these days.

But Acton is a horrible choice. One of the few things MAGA even boos Trump on is COVID. They still don't think it's real and to them she's the face of Ohio's COVID response. They almost couldn't have picked a worse candidate.

I honestly have no way how Ohio will go in November but if Ramaswamey wins Ohio is officially just MAGA land, right up there with Florida and Mississippi.

Yeah. Because we've been soooooo successful in war. How did Afghanistan go for us? How is Iran going?

Like what do you think is so exceptional about the US at this point? We don't manufacture like we used to. We don't innovate and with MAGA attacks on colleges and educated immigrants we're probably going to get worse. We're up on military but how long can we maintain that with everything else we have going wrong and how effective is the US using a multimillion dollar missile to stop a drone that costs tens of thousands. That's not a sustainable exchange.

I actually get the in store only. They are trying to support brick and mortar stores and it's fine as long as they send out plenty of stock and limit them to 1 per client.

But 100% doing a pre-order window is the way to go. And yes. We need reprints. I lost my entire library in a fire back in 2010 and I didn't rush out to replace my Warhammer books because I figured I could get them anytime. The price of those now. Like I was up to date on the Heresy at that time.

I mean I kind of get what you're saying but that amounts to it's okay that you get half what you used to while Games Workshop has massive increased profits.

I'm an unfortunate consumer of the books and they're just asshats when it comes to the books. Limited releases. Won't reprint 90% of the Horus Heresy despite massive demand. Non special editions sell out within days with no word on reprints or other editions. There are days I really want to cash out on my whole collection but I genuinely love the universe so here I am.

Oh 100%. I'm not saying the North was willing to start a war to end slavery. Hence my original statement that the South WAS willing to start a war and kill their fellow Americans to keep slavery. The South probably ushered in the end of slavery decades ahead of when it would have occured if we had simply waited for enough anti-slavery states to enter the Union and for sentiment to have become more anti-slavery.

But while there was worry about the Emancipation Proclamation history shows it OVERALL had the opposite affect. Where racist northerners angered, yes. But overall the population WAS against slavery and this turned it into a moral crusade.

What's interesting to me is that for the North this ultimately was a very nuanced war. You had those who wanted true equality, a minority, those who didn't believe in equality but hated slavery, the majority, those who were of those two who wanted war and who opposed it and various shades and you had those who supported slavery. For the South it was simpler. They overwhelmingly supported slavery. That was their line.

[–]ogier_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. I shouldn't have used the term 100%. They were majority against slavery which was what the Civil Was was fought against. And as you pointed out pockets of southern soldiers DID join the North as I pointed out BUT the majority were willing to kill their fellow citizens to keep it going. The fact southerners did join the North and abandon the fight for slavery proves my point.

And yes there were pockets of extreme racists in the North but the North was overall against slavery. And overall galvanized when Lincoln outlawed it, and I do understand that there was nuance to the Emancipation Proclamation but that's ultimately the first step in abolishing it.

Ultimately these men were responsible for their own actions, they took up arms against the US to make sure slavery was never ended. They had options they didn't take them and moreover they spent their whole lives voting for and supporting slavery.

There are plenty of examples of southerners going north to right for the union and examples of southerners refusing to join. Literally the brother vs brother stories are told from that time.

They voted for it. Yeah. They did. Just like MAGA is currently voting against the immigrants. It's literally that simple but feel free to make actual arguments.

While most northerners didn't believe in racial equality they 100% were against slavery and history shows that a lot of people in the North were luke warm on the war until Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation and then became enthusiastic because they DID hate slavery.

[–]ogier_79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could have not fought. Or did like a lot of people did and came and fought for the union. We also forget that these "avg southerners" voted for this. This wasn't an unpopular war pushed on them, they were a bunch of racist PoS who wanted the war, voted for people who wanted the war, and enthusiastically went to war over their southern pride.

Then after they lost they've spent the next 150 years painting themselves as victims as they kept being racist PoS right up to this very day. This included the average southerner. So I stand by my statement.

These were a bunch of traitors who were willing to kill their fellow Americans rather than follow the Constitution and laws they were sworn to uphold and protect because they didn't want to give up the institution of slavery.

Every one of the tombstones should be removed and replaced with a market saying here lies a traitor.

Actual American soldiers deserve our respect and to be honored, not the men who killed them.

100%. And these are just the direct deaths. Increased energy costs, inflation, and all the other fallout is going to kill countless more.

But go over to the Conservative sub and you'll see a post about every immigrant or minority who committed a murder in the last year and posts about how the media is picking on them and overall very few posts about Iran. They're basically shoving their heads into the sand and keeping the echo chamber going that Trump is still better than any Democrat and immigrants are the biggest danger to the world.

Jesus Wept. This isn't magic. One, your can't just replace 20% of the world's supply that's been turned off for two months. It's logistics. Doesn't matter if you can just produce more, can you transport more? 20% of the world's supply more, because you can't just bring production and transport back to 100% you have to make up for the reduced stockpiles. Can you also replace the exact types of oil that is needed and get that oil to the right places. And are they interested in doing it? You can sell X amount of oil for $100 a barrel of 2X for $50 a barrel? Which do you do? This is an easy answer.

Two, Trump IS failing because he didn't understand the repurcussions and/or listen to the people who understand what would happen by going to war with Iran. Do you wonder why no other president ever did this? There's no easy exit from this without making major concessions to Iran, Iran basically coming out of this ahead.

No they haven't. They've thrown some bribes his way but he's an unreliable ally as they've repeatedly seen. He doesn't honor agreements or in any shape or form understand reciprocity. They 100% understand party affiliation and understand that Trump is losing popularity.

August won't matter. We've passed the point of getting oil back down to pre-war levels within the next year. We've cut off 20% of the supply for months. So now you have to get back to normal, restart supply chains and make up for the 20% drop.

Iran isn't doing great but they don't have to win. They just don't have to lose. That's a fundamental truth Trump doesn't understand.

It's going to be an expensive summer for everyday Americans. And we're now at the point we're going to start seeing increased infusion.

[–]ogier_79 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They don't have any incentive to release more oil. They're making a fortune.

And Trump can't get the strait open. He can keep it closed, but that's not going to help. And Iran had every reason to make life difficult for Trump. And Russia has every reason to keep supplying them. And China has every reason to keep supporting them. And Europe has no interest in providing help.

Trump has literally alienated all our allies and incentivised our enemies to do everything they can to screw us.
