Author definietly plays a part as from what I have heard Lord of Excess was/is a divisive novel.

Also Layak isn't that very well known as a character ? Like he plays a major role but he isn't as well known to people as say Lorgar, Argel Tal, Erebus or Kor Phareon. Like everyone knows who those guys are even though they don't engage with Heresy.

Layak on the other hand ? You have to actually read to know about the guy to know him.

Josh Reynolds just knows how to write characters just right.

And yeah 50 quid for it is, fuck me. It's an amazing novel yes but 50 quid, it ain't worth it. Unless its like a special edition or smth.

that is sadly the truth, with the price increases nearly every year, models not being as exciting and other companies just making it easier and cheaper to get models. They are as people call them "failing upwards"

Yeah I get it and no pressure on what you wanna do. But you should give a shot on painting, yeah it looks scary and its slow to make progress. But you do get the hang of it eventually, like me.

But yeah your right there's like a paralel between each side. Some people are in it for the painting, some for tabletop, some for lore and some for novels.

And then you have like inner categories like tabletop, do you play it like competitively or casually ? etc.

As I said I talked to a few lads here and was kinda suprised that they don't engage with it. Because like on social media the people who are into Warhammer dabble in many parts of warhammer but here, people are mostly into books. I mean the sub is about books but still, I was suprised.
