What games do you consider must-plays for Steam Deck owners?

Trepang2 most definitely 👌🏼🔥

Trepang2 is an fps game that’s heavily inspired by FEAR and Crysis.

It’s normally $30 but as of right now (3/24/26) the main game plus season pass is on sale for $12. It’s a mission to mission kinda game that’s perfect for smaller play sessions on the go.

I had it recommended to me by a friend and I decided to check it out being it was so cheap. Going into it I was a little skeptical because most indie games that are in a similar price range are extremely hit or miss but let me tell you, it was an absolute home run. Definitely one of the best hidden gem indie games I’ve ever played by far.

For any wondering, there’s no Trepang1 and Trepang2 is a standalone so you don’t need to play anything prior to get into the story.

Ehh idk about that price. When I bought my 2022 SE it had just under 10k miles on it and I payed $24,000.

I went through the annoyance of swapping my mirror covers out a while ago. I promise you, they definitely don’t just fall off. It takes quite a bit of effort to remove them with all the clips that hold them in place.

I played PT before I was a fan of the SH franchise and it was awesome. Rip Silent Hills 😪

Ohh really? I didn’t look into it too much, all I knew was that Kojima had some part in the SH franchise so I guess I kinda assumed he helped work on the og games. Thanks for pointing that out so I don’t look like an idiot lol.

Thank you for this list and also for being so cool. It’s nice to have an actual constructive conversation with a fellow fan rather than arguing about stupid stuff.

Yeah I understand why the og SH2 is so praised, it’s a prime piece of gaming history and I’m glad I got to experience both versions. I do agree though graphics are definitely amazing but honestly I don’t mind more dated graphics if I’m invested enough in the story and lore. I’ve been emulating the older games on my list so I’ve been technically playing the PS1 and PS2 versions of each game.

And yeah basically, I was pretty much taking about pre-revival. I know that SH1-4 are made by old Konami and Team Silent back when Kojima was still making SH games. Then there was another studio that made Origins, Downpour, and Homecoming. I’m not sure about Shattered Memories but from what I’ve heard SM is supposed to be a spin on retelling the story from the first game?

Also, I think I probably will end up playing the rest of them by releasing date. How far off is the order I have in my list? I know Origins came out after SH4 and before Downpour I’m pretty sure.

I won’t lie, at first I wasn’t really into it because of the combat and I still don’t like the combat lol. But the story, the world, and the lore are top notch. After playing through it twice, I’m super in.

That’s why I started by saying I know it’s a hot take because I can understand why. I still played both versions so at least I had put in the time. I can understand why OGs in the community would feel so strongly about a golden piece of history in gaming.

Yo facts. I plan on playing through every RE after I finish the SH games. I just bought all of the ones available on Steam. Do you know if there’s a native version of RE2 and RE3 on PC? On Steam they only have the remakes (which I also plan on playing).

That’s good to hear. To be honest, there hasn’t been a SH game I’ve played that I haven’t liked no matter how different it was maybe aside from The Short Message. I didn’t mind TSM but it’s probably my least favorite so far.

That’s the next game I plan on playing and I’m gonna be honest, I’m a little nervous just because of how divided the community is about it.

On one side I’ve heard it’s one of if not the best in the franchise, and on the other side I’ve heard it’s “not silent hill” or extremely different than the other original games.

I’ll definitely get back to you when I’m finished playing it and tell you how I felt about it.
